I can't believe no-one has picked this up ...

It was NOT A 7 TACKLE TRY.

When Fifita receives the ball off the Cowboys kick and immediately gets tackled thats ZERO tackle right there.

If you look at 70min 40sec Tate gets the Zero tackle ruling in the exact same way.

Check Wiki for the Zero tackle rule:

"If a player collects the ball directly from an opposition kick in general play, the first time he is tackled does not register on the tackle count. If the receiving player kicks or passes the ball prior to being tackled then this does not apply. "

So the commentators , the Ref Boss, the entire media, the entire Sharkies Fanbase has not picked this up??

At the time I thought it was tackle 0 also. Regardless of how many tackles the refs still made an error counting.

What rule exactly constitutes a 0 tackle, because im not quite sure it should of been. Tackle 1 was the correct call i feel.

0 tackle rule

If the defending team 'knocks on' or touches the ball when it's in the air, and the ball is immediately regathered by the attacking team, the referee may elect to restart the tackle count in lieu of awarding a scrum; known as the zero tackle rule because the next tackle is counted as 'tackle zero' and not the usual 'tackle one'. The zero tackle rule cannot be used in a set that was started by the zero tackle rule. On awarding the zero tackle rule, the referee will shout "Back to zero!" or "Six again", and wave one arm over his head with fingers clenched into a fist, indicating the attacking side's next tackle is tackle zero.If a player collects the ball directly from an opposition kick in general play, the first time he is tackled does not register on the tackle count. If the receiving player kicks or passes the ball prior to being tackled then this does not apply. The RFL have an eye on this one as some observers of the game feel this may discourage adventurous counter attacks.

I was under the impression that if the ball wasn't passed then it was zero. Well it was in junior league when I played.

Well done Jett, why don't pass it on to the press.
I just watched both incidents and the Ref does that fist wavecaboutbhid head. So it loos like it was caked zero. But the other ref had a different tackle count.

Who gives a toss anyway. People can't say it caused the Cowboys to lose the game.

Firstly, there were 8 points the Cowboys scored which were on the back of incorrect referreeing decisions, so you might say its even.

Secondly, if the sharks don't score off the 7th tackle and the Cowboys receive the ball after six tackles as normal then that means the Cowboys are now working it out from their own end instead of the sharks receiving the ball from the kick off. The whole dynamic of the game changes so who knows what the score ends up or whether those other tries would have been scored.

For people to say it cost them the match is ludicrous.

So there was a replay that showed one of the refs calling a Zero tackle hand motion on our "7 tackle try"? I thought I may have heard someone shout Zero but it's hard to say.

I won't pass it on to the press myself; the longer these tools make a stink about it the more embarrassed they will be when they realise the truth.

Meh, yeh I agree; but there are a lot of idiots making a stink about it;

and for me; I hate the idea that just one of our boys will have it in the back of their head that they don't deserve to be there when they play Manly next week (or if we go further)

Look up the official 2013 NRL rules. They don't mention anything about this. Wikipedia is not an official source of NRL rules.

I think you may be right there.

However, Cowboys got their own 7 tackle set so that makes it even-stevens (not accounting for other errors previously mentioned)

I agree.

Not our fault we were able to score a try on the last tackle and they messed up their potential 7 tackle set half way through it.
