Aussie open has started today, there have been a few shock upsets already today im sure more upsets to come, Ivanovic has lost in straight sets to a qualifier, Lisicki has lost in 3, Kerber has just started her match, one of my favourites but is down 4-1 first set.

Be nice if the aussie crowds could get some new chants instead of "Let's go 'insert players name' let's go and the very cringeworthy oi oi oi.

Just going off topic here but it's the most cringeworthy thing to hear when you're overseas, I was in prague a few years ago and we were having dinner at some place full of tourists and it that chant was all you could hear. They were calling people up randomly to this stage thing and asking where you were from. Of course I get called up so I tried to put an accent on and say I was south african just not too hear it again haha.

Anyway back to the tennis..

Good young player but the jury is still out for me, he does his best to alienate himself from the general public, hopefully he's turned the corner & is going to knuckle down without all the BS.
Yeah that's why I thought it was good he was having a laugh with the crowd

He won, his bloody good was that, he plays Sam Groth in 2nd round, good luck to both boys, may the best man win & get round 3 as the reward.

What a day for the Aussies in tennis! Kokkinakis what a thriller of a win! Krygios came up good after looking a bit rusty for a bit, Ducky & Grothe both good wins as was Tomics! Tell me if I forgot anyone hahaha

Wasn't it just reserve grade in some local comp ?

Yeah possibly, I just heard a Newcombe say VFL in commentary but maybe he overstated it a bit.

Great day for us though as others said. Apart from the young guns I was stoked to see Gajdosova get her first win here in 9 years. Great stuff.

Good win by Krygios, he showed some good mental strength to hang in there, I hope his coaching staff or parents have a word to him about how he waffles on court between points, I suppose he thinks it helps him move on to the next point but I cant help but think if you are the guy he is playing against would be motivated by him rambling on.

You would be thinking this guy is going to lose the plot at anytime, I just need to hang in there & play tough, as I said, I'm sure Krygios thinks its helping but I think it might be hurting him more than helping him.
