Elsewhere, Sharks forward Teig Wiltonfaces an $1,800 fine with an early guilty plea after he was charged with a Grade One Dangerous Contact offence in his side's win over Wests Tigers

Looks like it would be $2500 if he challenged and lost
They're going mad. Tackles that would be legal if the player had the ball and isn't silly late shouldn't cop punishment from MRC.

MRC in shambles how is that even a fine cmon
MRC and Bunker have just been an absolute basket case this seasons. Refs pretty mediocre but they have (what should be) by far the harder job and I realise they can't possibly get every call right every game. Bunker and MRC making mistakes far too often though.

His penalty/sin bin was total bs - that isn't deemed "late" & "forceful" if the player doesn't stay down.

You see tackles on players that have released the ball every game multiple times. Is he supposed to wrap and cuddle him down to the ground now like tackles on halfbacks that have just kicked the ball? But this player also turned to pass/offload so it isn't even that straight forward.

We will get to the point where refs expect a defender not to effect a tackle and just let the ball carrier do what he wants because anything the defender does will be considered late or forceful or careless

I think it was the correct decision. The problem is the sporting code is wrong.

The should have been playing touch football and it would have made perfect sense!

Need to re-sign him ASAP. At worst he's an NRL standard second rower.
