hey all,
my 13 yo down the other end of the house - he comes complete with gaming!!!- struggling with wifi from the router - he's claiming to get a $50 wifi extender that should do it?
wifi extender??? is it worth getting OR
previously I had electrician cable in my other son's gaming computer directly to the wifi modem - It seemed to work.
thoughts appreciated
I’ve got a wifi extender and for the most part its good, a connection issue here and there but not enough for it to be a massive issue.
For online game though, a cable is always going to be better then wifi, but depending on the location of your young fellas PC or console to your modem it could be a pain in the arse. Maybe look at Power line adapters, these basically turn the electrical wiring of your house into network cables. Plug one into a wall socket near your modem and club a Ethernet cable into it, then plug the other into a wall socket next to your young fellas computer and run a cable from it to the computer/console. If your electrical wiring in your house is generally in ok nick, he should see a noticeable difference as opposed to wifi.
Downside is that these usually go for anywhere between $100 to $250.
Not saying its the best solution because I don’t know enough about this to say that categorically, maybe someone with more knowledge can confirm or deny it, but from what I know, its a very good solution.
