No doubt that the coach needs to take responsibility for what has happened to us this year.

I mean you wouldn't expect someone like Bellamy or Robinson or Bennett putting up with this.

But what does Morris do?

Does he drop some of the senior players and risk upsetting the playing group even further.

For a rookie coach this would be a nightmare scenario.

Flanno didn't give a ****, his word was law.

But even he had to work into it when he started. He inherited Ricky's squad and had to gain respect.

I think it took him more than a year to do that.

i have a serious question... Morris is a nice guy.

which nice guy ever made it as a top NRL coach ? I’m genuinely interested, I can’t think of any

You're right. They're not nice, even in public they are crotchety.

Perhaps Matthew Elliot but I think he was more weird and crazy than nice.

And he's not coaching anymore so what does that tell you.

Who out of the current breed of players do you think would make an excellent NRL coach?

Attack is based on instinct and whilst we drop a lot of ball, this isn't our main problem cos the boys enjoy this part of the game.
1st for line break and line break assists and 3rd in trys scored. That's pretty impressive.
Skill and skills levels can be learnt/ developed, but instinct can't.

Our issues are well documented:
Ball control
Goal kicking
Our D

These are discipline, commitment, concentration and attitude issues.
This falls on both player and coach.
It's up to the coach to instil discipline, commitment, fitness (which helps with concentration) and attitude within the playing group.
It's up to the player to work hard and embrace the coaches views.

Whilst I supported Morris taking over I'm concerned that he doesn't have the backing of the playing group (especially the more experienced players) and if that's the case, we need to find a way to fix this or we are going to have to get use to not playing finals footy for a few years as we can't afford to replace him early.

game plans, training, preparation, interchanges, squald selections, recruitment, retention ect

what they arent responsibile for

dumb penalties and dropped balls

They are responsible for repeated dumb penalties surely - it's a discipline issue.

Ball handling is also a training thing. If the team's handling sucks, drill it hard in training.

Yeah, but I still don't rate him. I realise it's not a popular stance.

Sticky had premiership success also, and he was diabolical.

Robbo having leg ups like Latrell on 450k allowing a completely stacked side does make you wonder a bit how he’d go elsewhere but his record is undeniable.

Sticky had success with sides mostly built by others and tended to find it harder as time goes on but he may have found his golden goose now with attracting all these English players.

The Roosters have always had it good and for a while there they seemed to flap between premiership quality and spoon quality, mainly due to complacency. TR got rid of that rubbish at least.

Don't rate Robbo.. wow. It's him and Bellamy then Bennett then daylight. The money their clubs have no doubt helps but they've got something the rest don't.

Because I just saw this and it’s kinda relevant also to reinforce the Sticky = diabolical idea...

Sticky and his super poms are 1-6 against sides currently in top 6 (beat Parra in round 4) and 12-1 against sides currently ranked 7 and down.
He might be into something with the Poms yet but still no proof he can coach

Ricky beat the Warriors in 2002 with Graham Murray's team. He woulda got beat by the Bulldogs if they got busted 3 months later.

I just had a look online at our numbers for the season. Below are some interesting figures:

3rd for tried scored (behind Roosters and Storm)
Equal first for line breaks
1st for line break assists
10th for kick return metres
15th for set completion
16th for dummy half runs (26 off the 2nd lowest)
16th for total kicks but 13th for total kick metres
15th for conversion %
1st for errors
4th for penalties conceded

The stats tell a pretty clear story.

We are also 2nd at moving the ball side to side according to Gal on 100% footy.

makes even more sense game plan wise is another area where the coach is getting it wrong.

Crazy with the forward pack we have.
