Kaufusi is a better player than Fifita imho. Plays 80, better defender, much higher work rate, better in effort areas.

For the other two, I reckon it's the coach/selectors giving a rocket to Fifita. He's become a "strike" player who is offering very little value elsewhere.
Kaufusi has always stepped up in origin and you are right, I just feel like he has slowed down the last year or two. I just can't see Nanai coming on and making a difference in a short period. 20 minutes of fifita is terrifying by comparison.

Yeah I'd be more worried about a Fifita cameo than a Nanai cameo... but having said that, Fifita has been ordinary this year.

He'll get the standard Qld debutant treatment. 10-15 minutes in the middle with no responsibilities other than "get a touch as early as possible and tackle your ring out". During that period we might also see the Qld halves put up a bomb or five.

I reckon we'll see Fifiita in game two.

According to Michael Chammas... Wighton in the centres, Crichton on the bench and Hynes 18th man.

A few quick stats on the 44 players named.

- 24 of the 44 come from the top 4 teams and 31 of 44 come from the top 6 teams.
- Newcastle had 4 players picked, but the other five teams in the bottom six had just 2 players picked between (DCE and Tino)
- If Nicho Hynes doesn't take the field in this series, it would make 4 years in a row for the Sharks without having an origin player.
- if he doesn't play in game 1, it would also make 3 of the last 4 seasons where Cronulla was in the top 8 but did not have a player selected for the opening match. In that 4 years, only one other teams have ever been in the 8 when the game 1 sides were picked and not had a player selected (Eels in 2019).

2018 the Sharks had one player in game 1. Holmes.

So basically... team success = players picked in origin, unless you are Newcastle or Cronulla.

Haas only committing to play if the Blues win at least two games and he wins at least one man of the match award with a free Mc Happy meal.
With the option to switch to QLD if they start winning. During games or for those following.

Interesting as always mate.
Not too surprising for those two teams tbh. They like to go for combinations, so I expect that's had an impact on selection. Sure, we've got the 'best centre pairing in the comp' but I don't think we've had any eligible combainations you could say were pickable above others for a long time now

I think it is still a solid Blues line up.

Cleary, Luai, Yeo, Cook and Tedesco as the spine and the 13 is very strong and should be able to get the job done.

It will be tight though as will the entire series. Doubt it will be a 3-0 whitewash to anyone.

Penrith with 7 players named, and under the cap

They're all local juniors mate, that's what happens when you develop your young talent properly.

The two of those player's who aren't have already signed with other clubs for next season.

Penrith must be where we were 2016, juniors on cheap contracts. Next contract surely they can’t be under the cap
