A few thoughts and ramblings,

Once again NSW shat the bed in a decider.
Tupou (proving you can't carry an Edrick Lee-type player for 3 games at that level) & Crichton to a lesser extent, not by much mind you, were diabolical. Directly led to 3 Queensland tries, I think.
Still, it was a fairly even (and brutal) contest in the first half and while the Blues were leading on the scoreboard, I felt Queensland were ahead on points.
In the second half, Hunt and DCE's kicking game proved to be the difference. Sound strategy, sound game plan, executed to perfection. Rugby league at its finest. Around the 65th minute mark, the writing was on the wall.
On the other hand, I can't figure NSW's game plan out. Since they'd picked so many Penrith players, they probably should have asked Cleary to come over too.
No issues with the referee either. Klein wasn't perfect but his decisions didn't sway the game one way or the other.
The result is all down to Queensland's execution and NSW's mistakes.

Feel sorry for Talakai. I'm sure he's learned a lot, but he's not ready for Origin yet.
Have you watched Cedric's last two games? Best winger on the planet!

...which means we all know he is due for an absolute stinker.

I have! And I like him. Sadly I don't remember him doing anything like that for us. Lack of opportunities probably.
But origin & tests are at a different level. Tupou's a fine clubman nothing more.

NSW shouldn't have needed this player. Once Grant was on the field Hunt was playing the Yeo role. He just did it better.

If you wanted to play like Qld the way to do it would have been to pick McInnes at lock and bring Radley off the bench. No Yeo.

He was a long time ago. Not anymore though. His first NRL game was at fullback.
Yep over the years most players have played in different positions. Cook is a hooker.

Does snowman think cook was in the bench to slot in at any position other than 9

No mate, it's really not. Did Api stay on the field when Cook came on?

Harry Grant played halfback in round 8, but he's not a half as you've said. Cook started at fullback once in the NRL, five years ago. They're both hookers. So is Api (even if he's filled in for short stints at lock on occassion... he's not a utility).

Burton and Gagai fined 23% of match fee
Tino fined 7% + 13% of match fee
No other charges
So about $3400 for bluing origin, you'd probably cop $2k to a week for NRL?

About $3k for Tino. Woulda been sent & suspended for 2 weeks minimum.

Cook isn't much and beach sprints don't mean dick unless you're rolling the ruck. just because he was the next best #9 when Smith retired doesn't mean he's that good.
