Thought I would start this off & see what people come up with, I met or sort of met Stuart Appleby at the golf a few yrs back, I always had a bit of time for him but he didn't impress me at all, I though he was arrogant.

I've met a tonne of famous people.

But, the biggest douchebag of them all was Andrew Symonds the former Australian cricketer. Absolute **** bloke.

Barnsey, cool ****er to sit down and have a smoke with before he was to go on stage (always looking for a lighter lol).

I Wouldn't call any NRL player Star they are just sports people to me.

I was forced to endure a Parramatta fan day the day after my husband and I attended a Sharks v Dragons game at home which we won. The temperature was disgustingly hot and I was well and truly hungover to the bejesus.

The husband wanted some signatures for a framed picture, so we stood in a MASSIVE line for 4 hours waiting. When we finally reached the players Jarryd Hayne just glided on by, ignoring the kid behind us who was crying because he had been waiting to meet him and only him. People were pleading for him to come back but he just kept walking.
Now I understand he would have wanted to get outta there but he was pretty arrogant the way he just ignored the poor kid.

Long after all the other players had left and by this stage it was pissing down with rain (a relief for my sore hungover brain) there was one player still hanging around, signing things, taking photos with supporters and having a chat with them. Hindy of course. He was brilliant.

Scott Prince - totally ignored my young bloke to get his flag signed, the rest of the team and coach had no problems and were great with it, even the coach shook his head.
And before you all start, the Titans are his second team of choice,

Every other person I've meet have been great, most always say G'Day and say hi to the kids.

The greatest sports person I ever met would have to be the late Peter Brock, always willing to have a chat with anyone, he gave back to the sport and fans like no other, many will come close, but there will only ever be one Peter Brock.

I really can't balme them if they are not very talkative. It must get tiring being expected to stop, talk and impress people all the time. I'd get over it pretty quickly.

Unfortunately that's part of there job.

Promoting the sport and promoting themselves it's part of being an elite athlete or sports person.

Maybe at an offical function or fan day or something.

but still, not everyone is calibrated to particiapting in small talk with complete strangers. It's genuinely difficult for some people.

I totally understand that, outside of their chosen field I would give them the privacy that they deserved, maybe a simple nod and a quick hello. Which I have done on many occasions.
I understand when it becomes an official game, fan, race, promo work etc etc.

Alot is the way you approach the person, I've seen people not even say there name and shove something in their face, that pisses them off, then their are others who walk up shake their hands and say have a great game, they enjoy that.

Some just believe they are too big for their sport. But that happens everywhere.

I've worked for and with a lot of sports people.

Adam Gilchrist, Phil Kearns, Wayne Pearce, Glenn McGrath, Liz Ellis, Libby Lenton & Nicole Livingstone were all great both whilst they were competing, outside of competition and after their sporting careers had finished.

I can't say the same about Tony Greig, Graeme Langlands or Steve Waugh.
