Thought we were somewhat ok this morning, could have been a lot better, especially defensively. Bahrain is always a tough away game for us so a draw isn’t the worst result. It’s just that terrible 5 minute lapse cost us where they got two quick avoidable goals. I feel bad for Hayden Matthews for that unfortunate deflection leading to that second goal. Good to see Yengi finally start to hit the back of the net.

Indonesia upset Saudi Arabia as well which helps us. That group is on a knifes edge, we sit in second with 7 points, and EVERY other team behind us sit on 6 points. One of the closest WCQ groups in decades.

The games against Indonesia and China in March have become absolutely must win.

Yep, thought Sydney could've won by more tbh.

We had enough chances to score 6 or 7 I thought.

They dropped away in the second half quite a bit, but job was done in the 1st half. Also with Sanfrecce and Kaya playing out a 1 all draw last night, that puts up through to the next round with a game in hand next week, i’d expect to see plenty of youngsters get a chance against Kaya next Thursday.

Major major blow for the Socceroos with Harry Souttar has suffered a major achilles injury playing for Sheffield United and is expected to be out for 9-12 months. Huge blow for our qualifying campaign and probably beyond.

Expect a Kye Rowles - Cam Burgess - Jason Geria back three for the Socceroos for the time being at least.

Rumour from Fabrizio Romano:

Socceroos captain Matt Ryan
Roma >>>>>> RC Lens (France).

Its likely he’d be going there as first choice keeper.

He gets around doesn’t he. Would be his 12th club

I was at the Uzbekistan vs North Korea game in the group stages in the pouring rain and UAE's upset win over Japan in the quarters.

The final ranks alongside the win over Uruguay in 2005 and the Denmark win in 2022 as the greatest Socceroos wins of all time.
Denmark win was good, but I'd say the 3-1 win over England in 2003 is more iconic and better
