if we do get him, Gallen can win a premiership.

if we dont get him, Gallen wont win a premiership.

we owe it to Paul Gallen, to give him the best possible chance of achieving the ultimate prize.

Can't believe all the support for him. He's proven at two different clubs he's trouble and brings negative headlines, headlines we can't afford at the moment, but whatever, majority rules I suppose.....good luck to him.

12 months ago I would agree with you. Not about Todd Carney specifically but about signing someone with his reputation. However 12 months on we had another disappointing season and missed the finals.

I would argue that the headlines about us being continual losers as much more damaging at present and we need to get wins on the board and make the finals. I also think that if Todd screws up again, he will get the bad headlines more than us as he is the one that is being watched.

I agree that it is a big risk from a sponsor perspective but we are already taking that risk by continually losing games and with media headlines about our impending death. Meaning sponsors are hesitant already so lets make a change.

I guess your happy with losing
If we dont start winning soon our crowds drop further putting us under more threat

Put Carney in and i think we are a 2 trys a game better side

Its a risk but if gal wants it we should all support it

Yeah after all that stuff that came about when Johns was at the club and Greg Bird the club said they had a 'no ********' policy.

I want it to stay this way

I want to win as much as the next guy but the guy creates a headline if does something as simple as walking a dog. We don't need that attention.

$200k for the first year and $500 for the second if he can keep his nose clean?

The only way i will support a signing is that there is a flat out alcohol ban on him and if he screws up, He is out.

If i or anyone i know was going to get paid $700K over 2 years to do anything! and there was a simple condition of no alcohol what would we do? Tell them to do it.

The fact he still has a job is an insult to any player who has tried the guts out 110% and didn't quite make the grade. This signing would be a kick in the guts for everyone out there who had the determination but missed out due to talent, which Carney has.

We would be better off signing Mitch Brown with the money.

If anyone saw the interview on foxsports news, they interviewed gal and asked him bout carney and he seemed like a bad liar. I think gal knows he's coming. He said he spoke to carney and they are both quite keen on him coming. Seems to me personally that carney is coming here. **** I'm excited. Sharks are going through a good patch ATM haha

Now I know your crazy. Also how do u not know Mitch brown doesn't do stuff 100 times worse? Just he hasn't been caught?

Mitch brown couldn't even eat Todd carneys ****. He isn't worthy

Paul Gallen offers hand of support to Todd Carney: come to Cronulla and I will help you

Paul Gallen offers hand of support to Todd Carney: come to Cronulla and I will help you

Cronulla skipper Paul Gallen has pitched an offer to troubled star Todd Carney – come to Cronulla and I will help you.

Gallen’s message to the former Sydney Roosters five-eighth came on Wednesday as the Shire club inked their beloved captain to a four-year contract extension, all but ensuring he would remain a Shark for life.

Carney is expected to join Cronulla later this week on a deal heavily loaded with behavioural causes after being cut loose by the Roosters last month.

The Sharks skipper, no stranger to trouble himself, said he could help Carney realise the potential which saw him named the game’s best player in 2010.

"I'm keen to see him play in the NRL, he deserves to play [and] I'd love to see him here," Gallen said.

"If he came here I think I could help him a little bit.

"I think he's just got to understand now that this could be his last chance. It would be his third club... he's 24-25 now and he's probably got to understand that."

Gallen described treatment of Carney as a two-way street, admitting while he needed to "be a little bit smarter", the media and general public weren’t helping the star to avoid trouble.

"He's in another country at the moment and having a good time… I don't see what people get out of taking photos and sending them to the paper. He's not doing anything wrong," Gallen said.

"I feel sorry for him. I don't think it's right at all."

"He probably has to understand that he's going to be targeted… [but] it's also the general public and the media, I think they have to lay off him a bit."

While Gallen was happy to talk about Carney, coach Shane Flanagan remained tight-lipped on the potential move.

"This is about Paul Gallen today ... Gal went on a bit about Todd ... we won't be going any further on Todd, this is about Paul Gallen being a Shark for life," Flanagan said.

I think Gallen's welcoming hand would be more impressionable on Todds decision than big dollars from other clubs.

Carney for that money is a ***** load better than what the Eels have paid for Sandow. Then look at the money they threw at Hoppa. Anyone who doesn't think Carney will improve our team has rocks in their head. He will instantly be our second best player behind Gal and he will improve our backs with quality ball. Yes he's a gamble but the positives far out-weigh the negatives. I want us winning again. The sooner we get him the better!

The more that I think about carney the more I hope the speculation is true.

If carney signs there is no doubt in my mind that the sharks have had the best recruitment of any team.

Can you imagine a combination of kelly/carney that just shouts points. exciting times ahead for the sharks.

life of a sharks supporter is starting to look brighter

I know Mitch behaves himself.

Im not saying he is worth that much money its just an example,

That being said we could afford possibly two of him. He want's to play centre, i mean someone has to play centre who can actually catch a ball at the sharks.

Mark my words we sign him and it's a bad look for the club. Screws up again, how is that going to look?

Yeah for the money we are spending on Todd we could probably buy multiple Mitch Browns but I would still rather take a punt on a first class half than have a Multiplicity-like situation in our NSW Cup Team.

I see your point as well man, but yeah I reckon if he does stuff up he wont just get the negative headlines, he is still apart of our club and any bad headlines he attracts will come to us.

But anyway, all this debate is pointless now, looks like he's coming, so us naysayers are going to have to live with it.

I dont wish him ill at all, in fact I hope I'm very very wrong about him, I hope he keeps his nose clean and becomes one of the greatest players to have ever played for the club. I doubt it, but yeah.......I hope I'm wrong.
