We wouldnt, we'd have a halfback and a 5/8.

But honestly, do you think the Sharks or NRL would allow a contract that didnt restrict alcohol consumption, or at least an instant dismissal clause for indiscrections?

Within the next few years all players will be under a booze ban IMO. NRL will make sure of that

As much I hate AFL... I think we are now playing second fiddle, seeing those fans camping at MCG for tickets, cant ever see that happening in the NRL, strange though considering our product is leaps and bounds better.. guess our admin has just screwed the pooch!

Well while we're selling out our team, let's just turf everyone and buy the best team in the league no matter how much scandal it may bring. Let's sack Gal and replace him with Corey Parker. Parker gets more points in Supercoach and can kick goals. Let's start cheating the cap too. Who cares how we win, let's just win.

Who's actually getting punted if sign Carney?

I think you'll find the guy with most to lose if sign Carney is Jeff Robson.

If we don't sign Carney I've got no doubt Robson will start the year at half back.

If we do sign Carney, Robson will probably have a Tim Smith/Scott Porter-like season and dominate in NSW Cup.

The other guy with possibly something to worry about is John Morris. A bit of a re-shuffle could see Albert Kelly on the bench and Morris out of the 17. (maybe!)

And all the people banging on about Townsend, have you actually considered that the team by the end of the year might be something like:

6 Carney
7 Townsend
13 Graham

16 Kelly

There isn't going to be some mass exodus of Shire talent if Carney signs. I couldn't give a ***** if Robson doesnt play first grade and Morris has one season max left in him.

Everyones been all for Bird coming back, no different to Carney. Bird, even tho he was 'innocent', lied to his club, tried to scapegoat his mate, and basically gave a big **** you to the club. They would have supported him, had he been open to them. He brough more negative media to the club than Carney has to the Roosters. The roosters have dealt with his indiscrections well, theyve kept no secrets, and they didnt sack him over the first and 2nd incidents (the second being very minor) the 3rd basically being the straw that broke the camels back.

No they haven't, so don't speak for EVERYONE on here

I don't have Morris or Robson in my round one team- regardless of whether we sign Carney.

That said, I like that group there Mr Ryan. But there are some questions to answer if we do sign him:

1) Which forward do you leave out to play Graham in the back row and Kelly on the bench?

Ross
De Gois
Gibbs
Smith
Gallen

Would all be certainties IMO.

So who misses out out of Fifita/Tagataese/Tupou/Bukuya/Graham? IMO we need at least three genuine props, so Fifita has to play. Who gets left out of Tupou, Taga, Graham and Bukuya? Is Graham actually a better forward than those other blokes?

2) Which one of Smith, Graham and Gallen plays on the right side of the ruck?
Assuming Graham does play back row, I don't think any of those three are natural right side players. Graham has played left side his whole first grade career. Smith prefers to play tight to the ruck, and Gal plays on the left or in the ruck. He might be the one to shift- he played a bit of right side last year for the Kangaroos.

3) Where does Kelly play when he comes on?

I honestly don't know. Roving?? Defending on the wing maybe?

Top shelf post then referring to a fellow sharks fan as a dick for having a differeing opinion, when will some of you guys around here understand this is a public forum where opinions are welcome.

Yeah he was deadset out of order, some people on this forum think throwing abuse at people adds weight to their argument

Anyway dude, heads up, over 70% of people on here want Carney here!!!!

Also he is joking if he actually believes that winning isnt crucial, winning gets people through the turnstiles.

throwing abuse? i just said something like "some of you dicks around here". i use that kind of phrase everyday when describing anyone from an incompetent KFC worker to one of my mates. Geez, i was deadset out of order. Talk about being thin skinned? Is that the kind of pussies being bred in the shire these days?

1: Gardner
2: Stapleton / Inu (if we sign him)
3: Leutele / T rex (if we sign him)
4: Best
5: J williams
6: Carney (or AK)
7: Townsend
8: Ross
9: De Gois
10: Gibbs
11: Smith
12: Graham
13: Gallen

14: Fifita
15: Tupou
16: Tagataese
17: A Kelly (if no carney then Jmo)

thats a top 8 side!

You didnt offend me at all, I agree with the Carney signing and if someone is getting burnt for an opinion which I agree with, I will jump in and give some support.

Your opinion is exactly that, I have my own, and that is I am willing to take the chance, Carney didnt have a massive year I feel due to the groin injury suffered right before the start of the season, given a proper off season I feel he will return to the stellar form he was in last year, in which case Carney is a game winning player.

That's right you're all entitled to your opinions. I don't agree with his signing on the grounds of two reasons.

1. He is a potential liability. I don't feel he's dedicated to his profession and I don't believe he'll be a proud Shark. I only hope that of he signs he will keep his nose clean and play hard.

2. AK, in my opinion is ready to fire. He's always been touted as the next big 5/8th in the game. A superstar in the making. We invested our money and time in him because of that reason. He's back from injury and ready to smash a full off season in prep for his role in the first grade team. This is his chance to fire. We gambled on him as a youngster for what he could produce in the future and that time begins now.

To cut him out due to signing Carney will dishearten him and render the money we spent developing him a waste. I only hope that if he gets shafted to NSW Cup he continues to develop and we eventually get to reap the benefits of our investment in him.

GO FLY INTO A LIGHT:dougy:

So you think that Carney is the one guy who can lead us to the eight. A one man show? Yeh right.

I've heared that flanno will have Carney in the team, but only at the "right price" (ie, less than Carney was getting at Roosters).

Good response, To be honest I am hoping for Kelly & Carney to be used in the halfs.

Carney has a big boot, whilst Kelly has a deft short kicking game.

I do rate Townsend but dont think he is ready.

I would be running out with,

1) Gards
6) Carney/Kelly
7) Kelly/Carney
12) Graham

& Yes I do think Graham is good enough to hold down and fully deserve that position, the guy is a deadset GUN
