Well the alternative would be that it would be at Doltone House, and the minimum ticket price starting at $200-$250 (though including food/drink).

$50 (members price) is less than a couple of GA tickets these days.

It's a special night, I think you have to put some value on it too.

Lower the price drops the greater risk of no shows too
Last thing you'd wanna do is make it nice and affordable, say $30pp, and have 20% not bother to turn up or something.

I hope we can sell the remaining seats to this event (about 1/3 left).

It would be sad to hold it in a stadium with empty seats. It's great the club gave a chance for everyone to be involved in this, rather than just the corporates. I know the tickets are a little pricey for a Tuesday night event though.
Disappointed in the timing being so close to Vegas, We’re making an extended holiday and leaving early

See updated version in the first post of the thread.

----

To be considered for the Hall of Fame, a player must have met four of the following five criteria:
  • Demonstrated exceptional performance on and off the field
  • Played State of Origin
  • Been an international Test representative. (Including Rugby League World Cup matches)
  • Played 100 first-grade games for the Cronulla Sharks or won a premiership with the Club.
  • Received a Dally M Medal, NRL-recognised award (e.g. Dally M positional award, Provan Summons Medal, Rothmans Medal, Ken Stephen Medal) or a Porter-Gallen Medal/Sharks Player of the Year award.

In the tables below I'm going to ignore the first criteria, and leave any off-field considerations to the morality police.
So assuming all players pass the "exceptional performance" criteria, they need at least 3/4 of the remaining criteria.

Notes:
  • Based on wikipedia/RLP. They may be incomplete or exclude Super League games.
  • I may have introduced some errors.... done very quickly.
  • In no particular order
  • Not a full list of all eligible players
  • Assuming the rep appearances don't have to be for the Sharks. There could be some strange cases where players don't meet the 100-game/Premiership criteria, but meet all the others. I haven't come across any obvious though. I believe the 100-game/Premiership criteria should be a mandatory one.
  • For Premiership, I am assuming only the final 17 players, not the full squad
  • I've generally only listed the first Major Award that qualifies them. Many have multiple awards. Not sure if awards only count if they were won during time at Cronulla.
  • For State of Origin, I counted pre-Origin NSW/QLD Firsts.
  • I have not included NRLW - Tiana Penitani and Emma Tonegato would likely be eligible, possibly others.
  • Test Matches should maybe only include Tier 1 and Pacific nations. Not Scotland/Ireland etc.
  • The "Exceptional performance off the field" will be the most controversial aspect of the criteria.
  • Sharks Player of the Year records not known (online) before 1989. Dally M-type positional Awards not known before 1980

good list man.

so les davidson, he played aus and nsw before he came to the sharks. i think its gotta be represented with us?

dane sorenson was dally m prop of the year in 1981 according to rlp. if thats correct he gets the 4 categories.

i did an ep with sammy on shakcast about the hall of fame, the criteria is quite interesting hey. exceptional performance on and off the field is fairly ambiguous and the most discussable point.

Yeah I wasn't sure on that. The criteria don't explicitly state it has to be with us... but I think it would get taken into consideration when actually deciding who gets in.

Thanks I only saw right at the end that RLP had those awards. I'll go back and check some others if I get time. Though the Sorensens are the main two in that category that probably have a chance.

Thanks I'll see if I listened to that or missed it. I am sort of guessing the exceptional performance is mainly to rule out those with off-field dramas. I think anyone who meets all the other criteria probably qualifies for exceptional performance, unless they were brilliant at another club and then (similar to what you said above) came to us late in their career. But yes will be interesting to see the results, hopefully they do publish some background to fend off any complaints!

Yeah I assume we will count Super League, and I was guessing any NSW/QLD Firsts team... but when I think about it, the criteria doesn't say that, it just says "State of Origin". I still think these criteria disadvantage the old timers a bit... but probably no absolutely blatant examples.

So Ronaldo is also eligible based on the Ken Stephen Medal (as is Tagataese).

Interesting comparison between Mulitalo and Mat Rogers:
  • Ronaldo - 110 games, 83 tries. One club. 9 Tests.
  • Mat Rogers - 123 games, 75 tries, 406 goals. 11 Tests
Rogers' goals and Origin games probably get him over the line, but it's a close one

Let's see where Ronnie finishes in other 6 or 7 years.

Feels harsh to hold origin appearances again Ronnie haha, even more than your usual Kiwi int

ATM Mat probably did have the better career with us but might not be saying that as soon as this season end... (hopefully not, as Ronnie the clear leader with a Prem...)

Yeah I think to make it simpler, they should not include current NRL players.

I would be very surprised if current NRL players were considered. But yeh - maybe they should have clarified that.

Normally they have a criteria retirement/retired for x number of years. Wouldn't think it'd be any different us.

The weather has co-operated for tomorrow night at least.

My predictions...

If they go for the older players first...:
  • Paul Gallen
  • David Peachey
  • Dane Sorensen
  • Brett Kimmorley
  • Jason Stevens
  • Mat Rogers or Mark McGaw
If they include more of the more recent players...
  • Paul Gallen
  • David Peachey
  • Andrew Fifita
  • Wade Graham
  • Dane Sorensen
  • Jason Stevens
