April 2, 2017 is a Sunday game, so we request the NRL for a Sunday afternoon game against the Roosters on that day. We probably need to start on that tomorrow.
On game day, we get the replica of the HMS Endeavour, boasting a gigantic black-white-and-blue sail, to launch from Birchgrove Oval (spiritual birthplace of rugby league in Australia).
On board is the entire Sharks squad, with Paul Gallen as the ship's captain.
The Endeavour will sail down the coast, past Bondi and Maroubra, into Botany Bay. Every boat in the Shire will line its path.
Sailing past Brighton-le-Sands and along the whole Grand Parade, it will then proceed under the Captain Cook Bridge and up the Georges River.
Anchoring at Kogarah Bay, it will fire its cannons at Kogarah (unfortunately this will probably have to be ceremonial only).
From there it will prepare for the final leg. With traffic closed on the Sans Souci side of Captain Cook Bridge, the population of the Shire enjoys a celebration on the bridge as the Endeavour sails back under, and then up into Woolooware Bay.
"And then wonder took the crowd, and a great joy; and they cast their flags up in the sunlight and sang as they caught them. And all eyes followed their gaze, and behold! upon the foremost ship a great standard broke, and the wind displayed it as she turned towards Toyota Stadium. There flowered a Great White Shark, and that was for Cronulla-Sutherland, but Five Fisherman's Friends were about it, and a football above it, the signs of five consecutive premierships that no Shark had borne for years beyound count. And the Fisherman's Friends flamed in the sunlight, for they were wrought of gems by Elle daughter of Peter; and the football was bright in the morning, for it was wrought of mithril and gold."
OK I better get back to work...
