With the economic uncertainty property development is a very risky business.

There’s no reason why we can’t just take the money and use it to acquire income generating property elsewhere.

This is what makes sense to me. Outside of pokies (and I hate those) I don't know how the club could possibly make the money. It's just a bit out of the way.

Only real worry is that the rest of the development is going to compete with the club.

They mention they'll avoid it somehow. I don't really see how.

The deck will be good for a Sunday session you'd think.

Yeah and cause they have nothing to do with the Sharks now, there ultimately isn't much you can do but try and compete. At least if we were the landlord we would get the rent!

That interview with Dino pointed out that the original agreement would have seen it be close to a decade before we saw any profit on retail space. There may not have been a club by then.

No reason why that money can’t be reinvested into better commercials elsewhere, who set the rules that the only business a football club can run is a bistro with pokies. Buy a subway franchise and stick it in the development, or better yet a nice kitted out strength and conditioning gym. Etc

The Herald understands the long-awaited refurbishment of Cronulla's leagues club has prompted discussion whether to shift some of their fixtures 10km up the road to Kogarah's Netstrata Jubilee Stadium, the traditional home of their long-time enemies.

No exact start date has been confirmed for the next stage of Cronulla's vast redevelopment, which has included residential units adjacent to PointsBet Stadium. But construction on the leagues club, which forms part of the eastern grandstand, is expected to begin in 2020.

It has forced Sharks officials to consider drastic contingency plans for their home fixtures, which includes shifting either some or all of their games away from PointsBet Stadium during the redevelopment. The construction is expected to take up to two years.

2 years would be reasonable for the whole thing. Not sure how much will impact on the ground itself though. Also, if the Leagues Club is not operational that might change the equation for using the ground to its best capability.

Taj Mahal took over 20 years to build. 2 years seems reasonable.

Besides that’s the whole construction, that wouldn’t be the time they’d need to vacate. Maybe just year of that, if that to be honest

"The Dragons are spoilt, they have two fantastic venues in [Nestrata] Jubilee and WIN Stadium. We are all cousins at the end of the day in the same game, all trying to make it work. We look forward to meeting them on the field there as a minimum.

take the games to bank west, **** playing out of their home ground
I agree, we’re going to get bad crowds regardless, at least it would be good conditions for the players, and lots of people are keen to see the new stadium at least once. I’d try and organise all our games as double headers with Tigers or Roosters.

In the past they have said it would not be every game of the season that has to move, just while particular work is happening on the club/stand (with most work in the off season). But I guess reality may have hit there
