So according to old mate Dino, break even for a home game is 16,500.

If that's true we're screwed.

He also said 14 of the 16 clubs lose on average 3 million a year.

So we’re not alone.

Just gotta find a way to cancel out the losses.

Obviously we can’t rely solely on gate receipts to survive.

That’s why how we invest this cash we are getting is probably the most important decision in our history.

Other teams don't own their ground.

How can we own our own ground but the break even amount is 16500 crowd...

Ticketing prices might need to go up!

I'd like to know why owning your ground is an advantage tbh. Serious question.

Only on the balance sheet!
If it’s not generating enough income to at least cover its own expenses then there is no advantage!
We would hope that gate takings would cover expenses AND produce a profit.

Should be easy with the 70k+ that showed up to the GF..

If that's legit, we need to come up with a plan of getting those numbers, even if it means free tickets.

Get bums on seats, go around to every local primary school and hand out fistfuls of tickets. Get families in the habit of going to the footy and turn them into members.

When we had that dance off or whatever, we had a great crowd. Everyone that attended that should have been given free tickets to the next home game

Umm.. you gotta sell the tickets to get the money to break even.

30,000 wont break even if its for free.

I'm talking short term (hopefully) loss for long term gain.

Give out free tickets to make going to Shark Park an event, then turn them into paying punters.

It could work and it could also fail miserably

Definitely no harm in giving kids free tickets. Not like we are selling out. Give 2000 primary school kids members passes. They need an adult to go with them, they buy food/drink etc all works out for us. Getting the stadium full with free tickets makes us money other ways too.

But parents appreciate not having to pay for their kids

Free tickets to help hook in families is definitely a move worth doing now and again, especially against opposition that won’t pull a big crowd

Need to put on cooking show or some contrived dating show with tears and tantrums because I swear it seems I’m the only one in Australia that doesn’t watch and have an interest in that siiiht.

What sort of financial incentives and percentage of gatetakings would be involved if we took 2 of our home games per year to another city? (Adelaide for example) Sorry, I have no idea how it works. Secondly, would the NRL allow us to do that?

They would definitely allow it.

If it meant we got an injection of 300k just do it. Cronulla fans have no right to complain as they don’t show up to games anyway so let’s take some away. It also increases demand for the games we do have at shark park.
