*** me dead, if scotty is selected for city, and plays absoloute blinder, he would have to be a contender for origin.....

Nah, City/Country is for players who won't play Origin usually - or for emerging rep players to test 'em out before they play Origin.

whats the F in SFP stand for?

I keep thinking its SCOTT FCUKIN PORTER

LOL, that's what it stands for! It was assigned to him after his first NRL game. When he was interviewed by Fox Sports he kept dropping the F bomb!:)

It would be great for Scotty, no doubt. Bit rough on the other contenders who are actually playing first grade though getting pipped by a NSW Cup halfback who can't crack firsts in the side running last.

I'd take Scotty over Keating, but Hodgkinson looks the goods for a young half.

Peter Wallace??? Is he injured? I know Pearce is.

Wallace got man of the match last year I'm pretty sure.

I think he is injured mate. From memory Hunt was in the halves for Brisbane last week.

Yeah mate, from what Ive been lead to believe, city country is a real testing ground to see how players can handle a bit of rep duty, if you kill it on the night you get looked in for soo yeah? Thats what happened to birdy I believe.

Last year was the first time in a long time that some aspects of the game would weigh into NSW Origin selections. Such as Farah v Ennis for the hooker spot. Farah won out that night but by game 3 was gone and Ennis showed he's Origin material and Farah isn't yet.

See hitman, NSW are able to pretty much select their Origin squad, then pick a 34 man list of maybes who will probably be overlooked anyway. And still lose to almost the same side 4yrs on the trot.

Scotty wrote me a Facebook message, thanking me for my contribution for the round 1 jersey.

I cant say enough good things about this guy, while our team puts in abysmal performances, this guy still has me completely inspired.

It makes me laugh when I think of a news article in manly which I read, in where it refered to brett stuart as a " an integral young man which seems so full of character" or something along those lines.

Well what a load of crap! Scotty Porter is the epitome of what character, courage and integrity is all about, this guy should be the poster boy for the sharks, he has what we need, he needs to be given a chance in bloody first grade!

Tell me this, compare his rnd one perfomance against a side so greatly stacked with talent it is illegal, to a gutless performance against the broncos and st george, and give me one valid reason why he shouldnt be at least given an opportunity to prove himself in first grade, 3 weeks is not enough, give him a string of 12 games after the bye and lets see his full potential!

I call for Barrett to go, especially when we hear rumours of "Ive just got to stick it out to the end of the yr" WTF MAN? That sounds like a guy hanging round for his superannuation, when we have a bloke in the reserves who would cut off his right arm for cronulla sharks!

Does anyone feel the same bloody way I do?

completely agree hitman SFP all the way along with Gal , Snowy , and Dougy its guys like Scotty who never give in and have the ability to lift the younger guys unfortunately Barrett seems to have given in.
I for one would love to see Barrett moved to lock and Porter and smith in the halves.
Kinda like what the roosters did with Fittler i honestly think it could be a real good move.

i dont want barrett anymore after that so called rumor its obvious he lacks heart for us. you can argue with me but i just dont see him having heart. hes good when he wants to be good.
as i always said stuart should have NEVER dropped porter. anybet ricky stuart is gonna do the brett kimmorely thing and tell porter hes not wanted. IF THAT HAPPENS ahh i dont even want to imagine.

Good bloke, I like him and respect him and wish him all the best as much as the next person on here, but is he that good a footy player?

Ask yourselves, without the rose-coloured glasses.

From the NSW Cup games that I've seen, he and Josh Lewis would have to be the standout halves pairing in the competition.

I do not believe for a moment that the problems with the Sharks are in the halves though. We've got plenty of depth there. Where I think we are lacking is NRL quality depth in the forwards and the centres.

I think the chances of him playing first grade for us again are very remote.

I cant see Ricky dropping either of our halves and if they get injured he will put John Morris in there before he brings back Ports.

Sucks for him. (and us in my opinion)

I like SFP because he gives it his all. Whether he's first grade material or not, I'm unsure. Definitely not better than Smith, but may perform better than Baz (in his current emo state).

I could see Ports playing as a 5/8. I am not sure why he is not playing there in reggies. He has a good passing game and can kick. I would like to see him in the NRL team as a 5/8

Porter is ****ing ****! why would you take him over Barrett ? Offers **** all in attack and has half a kicking game

because barrett is simply playing now to "finish his days" He has been with us 18 months, SFP has been with us for a decade. When Barrett runs out now I believe it is evident he doesnt really want to be out there.

Also, if Barrett was dropped, and I mean dropped for a period of time, it would show the players that NO ONE is safe from the axe, and whenever you are in sharks colours, you better give it your all or your gone!
