I'm a Sam fan but Sione is far superior on kick returns and hitups, by a long way at this stage.
As well as actually being really solid defensively under kicks* and part of what was or was near the best defensive right side in the comp

* we compensate for him not being a great defensive target by kicking for Jesse anyway

I love Sione, he's one of my favourites but looking at it with no emotion I think it's obvious Sam is the choice.

Not just for his own upside but also because he fixes the biggest weakness in the position currently, Sione's height means he gets targeted, it sucks but its the truth.
The obvious move is Sione to fullback

in all seriousness though Rolando to fullback ought to be considered a bit more in these conversations
I think any thought of Ronnie to fullback or centre would have happened by now. He also hasn’t mentioned a desire to play another position that I know of.

Maybe for his next contract he’ll try and pivot to a diff spot for more money but it won’t be at the Sharks imo

IMO there are too many good fullbacks/prospects not playing NRL right now even to consider forcing someone else into the position. Better to spend the money on someone who knows the position than deal with the learning teething issues.

Ronnie's last attempted move out of wing was so bad I had to check that Freddy wasn't coaching

Was that the game at centre? I don't remember the game, was it that bad?
It was a while ago but I remember a few clangers :)

Here's the NRL match centre (you can watch the replay if you're really keen!):
