With Sione Katoa suspended, local junior Sam Stonestreet will make his much-anticipated NRL debut on the wing in Sunday's Sharks-Cowboys Round 7 blockbuster at PointsBet Stadium.

A product of the De La Salle Caringbah club, the 21-year-old Stonestreet has come through the grades at Cronulla and impressed in the NSW Cup for the Newtown Jets.

Happy for him to make his debut. Love Katoa, but I do feel like stonestreet will eventually be an upgrade. Time will tell.

With two perfectly good options overlooked (Iro/Talakai reshuffle & Hiroti) gives me confidence they are happy with where he is at.
Keen to see him stretch those legs out for us.

Didn't have much chance to shine in Cup but did get caught up in some tough stuff and hard hits and handled it well.

What’s his best attributes? Strength? Speed? Agility? Is there a current player who we could liken him too?

Watched a few jets games last year but can’t remember exactly how he played.

He’s quick that’s all I remember

The type of quick we haven’t had in a while

He’s tall (but not freakishly*) and fast - probably haven’t seen enough of him to give player comps really personally.

*193cm, so 3 more than Ronnie 3 less than Dan Tupou for comparison

He wore the physical fairly well in trial but 80 minutes of NRL will be another story. Might not be able to keep up the yardage work throughout the game but we do have other blokes who can take an extra run or two to make up for that.

From highlights it’s nice to see a lot of his tries came from staying alive and putting himself in good positions rather than just feasting on space down an edge created infield

Going off the highlights he seems to have a nice bit of footwork where he can change angles close to the line and still be effective with his size and speed.

Open space he looks quite fast. Like possibly one of the fastest players in our squad maybe.

Very exciting prospect
