To give Flanno another example of successful (I wish :D) parenting, my son gets to watch TV/Youtube (for the trains) 3 or 4 times a month, at best, usually no longer than 30 minutes at a time. Most of the kids in his class are already hooked on TV, anime, Disney and the like. Not to mention phones.
As a result, there's a tornado sweeping through the house every time he's home. :ROFLMAO:

It's a slippery slope. The amount of toddlers being pushed in a pram watching a screen does my head in.

Last school holidays we went to the Fairmont in Leura. I kid you not, at dinner we were the only table actually all talking to each other, every other family had their kids on tablets. Man I hate that.

Very sad isn’t it. But that **** is all on the parents, just lazy on their part. Kids aren’t being taught basic manners which is why so many grow up being quite entitled

Yeah. It's quite incredible, isn't it? I don't pretend to hold the truth when it comes to raising my kid, I mean I pretty much learn things by trial & error, but seeing all these kids who are totally unaware of their surroundings no matter where they go is just plain mind-boggling. And don't get me started with the 3 or 4 year olds with headphones.

And even with virtually no screen time/access to electronic devices, mine still knows how to look by himself at the pictures stored in daddy's phone.

Indeed. Can't say I haven't once or twice let him watch trains videos while I was doing something else, because I had absolutely no time to play with him, and I totally understand how tough it can be for parents with several kids or single parents, but often it's just about us taking the easy option.

Yeah I mean I think a bit is fine, all in moderation. However at dinner time there is no reason for it, that should be a non negotiable

I’m not, but looks like a good chance to set a PB. Cool weather, fairly strong westerly, the only hurdle will be the almost record crowd.
Yeah they're predicting 8k, that's a lot of runners on Flora at the start.

We did City 2 Surf today, what an absolute shitshow. Just way too crowded, we couldn't get into a rhythm, spent the entire way zigzagging.

The last 200m took 7 minutes because there were so many people banked up. I'm proud of my 8 year old for getting through it well but never again. Not fun at all.
