Exactly. Without moylan there he most likely wouldnt have had the gap he did. Its a shame cos the moves he put on in that run were something special

On the bright side Val can build some confidence from that run and it didn't cost us the game, so there is still an upside.

Thats the first penalty youve seen for that? Wow. Nu brown was penalised against the roosters in 2014 for running behind his team mate who was standing in front of defenders.

It was as blatant of a sheppard youll see. Most times this season players just give themselves up in that situation to avoid penalties

First time I have ever seen a player penalised for that on a kick return. Like I said, it happens nearly every week. I don’t disagree with the call but it never gets called and probably doesn’t get called if Val doesn’t score. Players getting in the way on kicks is inevitable.

In fact - by using that example you are actually point out what I am disagreeing with. I don't disagree with the penalty - I disagree with that play being interpreted and ruled as if it is the same as a guy running behind his own player in general play. It's not the same.

Watch the first try in this video... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rElWKCbMhSM

Or the Brett Morris one at .5 seconds and the Sandow one at 1.27 in this video ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5t0jsGTeREw

Or the DWZ try at 3:00 here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMPBbVRObds

These either should all be penalties for obstruction or none of them should be. This happens all the time.

The reason it was pulled up is because val used moylan as something run around. Theres always going to be an obstruction somehwere in a kick return the problem was how close moylan was to val due to the line val chose to run and then the fact he got between val and the tackler.
