Its funny you know , in the Cowboys game Warren Smith commentated late in the match.

"Thurston thought about running behind his own player , but stopped as it would have been a penalty" .

Who knows , it should not have come to that.

Yeah players run behind all game long that's deffanantly not an excuses for loosing but that whole obstruction Shepard thing is z debate for another day

Sauliuayma first hitup it looked like he concussed that Vete guy (or maybe it was Peyroux, whatever) but whoever it was played on, so whatever. He looked real lost in defense in the middle.

With all the blokes missing, if we have to bring in Ayshford, think I'd rather Sauiluma play centre and Ayshford in second row than the opposite.

Depressing thought those 2 in first grade at the same time.

Yep. Depressing.

Newtown Jets 26 (J Gagan 2, N Mataitonga, B Ayshford, D Abou-Sleiman tries; T Murphy 3 goals) bt Illawarra Cutters 10 (J Hunt, K Glymin tries; S Crook goal)
SUMMARY: An outstanding defensive first-half performance set the platform for the Newtown Jets to run away with a 26-10 victory over the Illawarra Cutters. Todd Murphy was a standout performer for the Jets, as well as Jacob Gagan who scored two tries in three minutes when the game was in the balance.

In other news, Jets won comfortably against a decent looking Cutters side on paper. Gagan was listed as starting on the bench on the team sheet, was anyone there that saw what position he played when he went on?

Another game we were expected to win that we lost. How about we lower our expectations for every game. Maybe it will help.

It will be hard to make an argument against Murphy playing NRL next week.

We all know that it will not happen.

As sad as it is, the facts are that it will take another few losses for Flanno to bight the bullet, if only he could be pro-active , it could save our season.

It only needed a reasonable kicking game to win tonight and also against Gold Coast the first time around.

On a completely different topic.

Am I the only one who notices that Lillyman arms are too short. Like, way way too fking short, they barely reach his waste. I'm surprised he can wipe his ass.

I thought he was great under the bomb tonight and was much improved. It is still a long way back to 2012 form though.

Fair dinkum ?
He has NOTHING to offer in defence ,
Too short for bombs , can't monster a winger over the sideline , supposed to be agile and gets stepped as our last line of defence .
5/8 in NSW Cup till he gets confident in that position , Otherwise it's a later incarnation of Gards at fullback in first grade. (no thanks) .

How often does is happen but.. we are literally always a couple of points behind or ahead with 10 to go and you just know deep down we are gonna cock it up ... and we do

I felt more confident we would win after they scored and were up by 4 than i was after fifitas try.

That loss hurts still... Cant believe we lost in the dying minutes like that. Seems to happen more often then not though.

Pretty gutted like most over the result. Looking back however it was another game that the boys just did not deserve to win. There seems to be no idea on how to get across the stripe. Another game where points only came about from either freakish bounces or terrible reads on defence. It's going to be a very long year unless someone steps up and straightens up that attack rather than just trying to run around defensive schemes all year

Nailed it.

It was another poor performance. They should have closed it out and got the win but the attack was dreadful again.

This coach has no concept of how to recruit, select and coach attack. Until the side can score points they are going nowhere. The effort required to grind out wins against easts and Souths cannot be sustained when every game is close because they cannot score tries.

The ball control was Under 10 standard , player discipline is non existent , was there a game plan ? . Move Bird into the centres right side , bring in Murphy , Holmes back to Fullback Gagan onto the wing and cant wait for Heino to come back.

Sounds like it was a good thing I didn't attend this game, haven't seen the game deciding play but not going out of my way to see it, probably never will.

Playing for 78 minutes is an improvement on 70 I guess.

We lose too many games in the dying minutes. We need a close out strategy and a Head Coach.

I wonder what the stats are on this. We seems to lose a lot of games in the dying mins as a club.
How do we compare to other teams?
Would be interesting to know.
