Much, much better tonight but still off the pace in a number of areas.
You cannot allow teams to make 60+ metres every set and hope to win a football game. It is so bloody simple and if someone like me, who has never played a footy game in his life, can see it, I don't understand why the coaching staff don't see it.
We have some really good players you know. We should not be on the bottom of the ladder. We are too good to be there.
We have to defend so much better. As Everton will tell you, I blow up big time when we get three blokes into a tackle and they get a pass away. Surely one of the defenders has the ball wrapped up!
Our kicking game was poor. No, it was worse than that atrocious. We consistently kicked to them on the full and for the majority of their sets, the Roosters started their sets from their 40mtr line. That's a 20 mtr headstart which you cannot give to any football team. Carney and Robson did not put one decent kick in all night. Carney's kick that was taken by Kenny-Dowall to score should have been a grabber for a repeat set. Everton remarked that those kicks rarely come off, why do we keep trying them?
Best players tonight were Gal, Ricky and Feki. Heino was also strong.
Jono had his moments and Lichaa was easily a good step up from De Gois. I don't care if he's going to the dogs, he needs to be in our 17 every week.
Unfortunately TC had a night to forget and he's lacking a little in confidence. For those demanding he be rid of, forget it. He will not be playing NSW Cup. He will come back I'm sure and there were times tonight when he made an effort in defence.
For next week I was tempted to out Feki in the centre for Ayshford but I too like the partnership he and Ricky have built up, so I'll leave them there. Here is my line up for next week, given Beau and Toops are back.
