Personally I thought we turned the corner in this game. Centres and wingers got early ball. The forwards got us down the ground and starting fighting in the tackle to get quick play the ball. Most importantly in the second half the boys stopped watching Manly pass the ball and got up in their faces. more of that please.

With Todd back if we play like every match we can start to chalk up some wins. Of course ASADA could come and stuff it all up but asisde from that I have a positive outlook for the rest of the season.

Good and important point. And i think this all comes down to Townsend. Its no surprise with chad having gotten some more game time with the squad and preparing for a first grade game, we are seeing his ball work and vision starting to pop up. It is no coincidence that the backs finally got some good early ball once he has started playing.

It was also noted in the halftime report by noddy that flanno grilled the boys about getting off the line and shutting down manly. And it worked alot better and we need to keep this up.

For me that was a step in the right direction as far as completions, ball work and the defence moving up, which are some of the fundamentals we have been lacking.

i would like to see gardner play a couple of games on the wing in nsw cup to see how he handles defense while playing on the wing.
if he handles the defense on the wing in nsw cup i would give him a chance on the wing in first grade.
i love to see gardner in first grade as he would be looking for off loads like gordan does atm and adds more to our attacking options.
his defense on the wing would concern me and as we are currently only 2 wins from 6 starts and can not afford the risk of playing
him on the wing without testing him in nsw cup.
lets be honest a lot us would like to see gardner in our team but its not going to be at fullback unless gordan gets injured, so why not
give him a couple of games on the wing in nsw cup and see how he goes

i agree i dont think hes too small either like people say, hes no smaller than turner ever was, perret, david williams and matt duffie are tall but scrawney as, i dont see why he cant be a good winger at some stage

Watching the game again, in the lead up to stapos second try, the set before we got into attacking position, townsend was getting swooped on and threw a great late pass to gordon which opened up a huge gap for gordon to bust through a few tackles which got us the penalty that lead to the try.

Also, townsend threw that great flat ball to graham who nearly scored, then had the vision to notice the space and the lack of defence from lyon coming in, got the ball out straight to mills who drew in and passed perfectly for stapo to stroll in.

Thats good football and good play from three blokes who have copped it for weeks. Could anyone see robson doing that?

Chad put Pom into space three times. He nailed a conversion from the sideline under pressure. His general kicking game was ok needed a little more depth on his bombs and to find the grass more often but his running and passing game and general read of the game I feel is better then Robson.

there were some good signs for Chad. He is still playing out of position , but now we are seeing snippets of his running and passing game improving something he's not noted for.

There is no doubt in my mind he would go far better with Carney at 6. It's really a no brainer to put him with Carney, the team and Chad will really benefit from it.

Imagine 2 halves that could put outside backs into space?

Why does nobody want to talk about that horrific decision not to take the penalty goal at the end of the game? Why is it slipping under the radar? I think we win if we take the 2 there.

mate when was the last time a team actually did that

Who cares? We should be making the right decisions, bugger what other teams do.

It was the worst decision I have ever seen on a football field except for Terry Lamb's field goal when they were down by 2.

You are either trolling horribly, or you are dumber then Matty C.

You know we also lost by 7 right?

Yeah, it's really simple maths. So simple you might even be able to understand it.

At the time we were losing by 7. This means that we have to score TWICE (either two tries, or a penalty goal and a converted try.) Either option is fine and will get us the victory.

Suddenly, we're awarded a penalty goal right in front of the posts. We have a choice: either take the tap, and we have to score TWO TRIES in five minutes. Or, take the penalty goal on offer and we have to score ONE TRY in five minutes.

Have I simplified it enough for you? Can you understand why it was one of the most moronic decisions ever made on a football field? Maybe not. Let me boil it down for you:

IT IS MUCH EASIER TO SCORE ONE TRY IN FIVE MINUTES THAN IT IS TO SCORE TWO TRIES IN FIVE MINUTES.

lol you goose
What happens if we miss the conversion we end up losing by a point
You go for the try and work out a new plan after you score. For example if we score a converted try we are only down 17-16 then worse case scenario we kick a field goal to take it to extra time

I feel like his kicking game has been a bit off over the two games he's played. Way to many kicks found Hayne last week, he's the last guy you should kick too. And I thought he and Robson could have put more pressure on the debutant winger yesterday.

Hahaha.

Oh ****, I understand why the players didn't take the kick now - they're as useless as the members of this forum.

If you miss the conversion, yes - you'll be down by one. In exactly the same place as if you scored a converted try that set. You can set up for a field goal - exactly the same as if you'd scored a converted try.

Difference is that if you DON'T MISS THE CONVERSION YOU WIN THE GAME.

The higher percentage play was to take the two. I agree with Garbs, as did all of those I was watching the game with at a BBQ.

you should be coaching then because your football brain is obviously far more superior to any coach who has ever coached rugby league at its highest level
Tell me the last time a team did what you are suggesting??
