i agree we blow some attacking opportunties, we were also below our best. as i said the ref mistakes were key ones.
i feel robbed, imagine one of manly,s try not being scored cause the ref got the call right. then if cherry evans was
penalised instead of winning the scrum and us being on attack in good postion instead of cherry evans kicking field goal
we may have been able to score the match winning try. we may have still lost but it would be nice for the ref not to have
such a large bearing on the game.

Mate the refs were poor for both teams. They missed a million forward passes on both sides. I don't think John Morris has thrown one pass backwards this year. And that call on Graham could have been a penalty to the Sea Eagles. As I saw it Graham pushed Cherry Evans in the head causing him to lose balance and his right leg to move up...could have been a penalty.

It was our basic game plan and poor execution that cost us again. Gallen popped up in that backline a dozen times today for no result. Actually there was a result, the play died. Morris offered nothing in attack as usual, Robson continues to play in no man's land when running that backline and we have a team made up of mostly back rowers. Our effort was there but nothing has changed, especially Flanagan's win percentage.

Basic mistakes basic team basic result, we tried hard but once again lacked class. Love the effort but execution is diabolical

Missed the game so have only seen highlights. Credit where it is due, Stapo can pull the odd game out of his arse.
I didn't think this game would be the one where we actually see the ball get out to a winger from a centre for a try either...

Tbh was impressed we scored 18 points at all against Manly but RH defense still sounds a rabble.

Here's my gripe:

Why the hell didn't we take the two when we were down by 7 with 5 minutes on the clock? I appreciate that the players aren't mathematical geniuses, but someone in the coaches box should have deduced that we needed to score twice to win. We elected not to take a gift two points and put the game beyond our reach. We pretty much made the decision that we didn't want to compete to win. It was one of the most ridiculous things I've ever seen in first grade football. A massive blunder.

2 points when you don't get back up their end and score another converted try wouldn't mean much either but either way fair point on needing to score twice. If they took the 2 you would have alot of fans complaining cause that's what we always use to do

They sed before the game that Gordon has been nursing his knee a bit. Its still not 100%. Lucky we have 2 weeks before the next game.

Can't wait to see Gordon at 100% then cause he hasn't looked all that hesitant out there as it is. 2 weeks before next game?, is it really that close to Origin taking all the NRL games away? Just what we needed after a loss right, 2 weeks on the sidelines. FFS

Its exactly what we need mate. Since 3 days before the season started we've been under the ASADA pump. 2 weeks to prep for a game will be great. It also gives Carney an extra week off to heal. Mate we need it.

Yeah I wouldn't have picked him either, I just saw on the fox sports website that the side had been named. I don't know how Kurt Gidley got picked.

Probably the same reason Lewis got picked, they have their favorites regardless of form. Except I don't have a problem with Lewis being picked other than risk of injury ect. He is quality and should lift for a rep game. Gidley doesn't make much sense when you have the whole QLD backline to pick from...

Yea fair call, could be just what they need. Still sucks not having Sharks games although not fun watching losing games either...

I wouldnt make too many changes at all. Chopping and changing your team around does no good. I would possibly only drop Bukuya.
i tend to agree. when fox went to the sideline shot of the bench immediately after the mills try, it was evident
he could not of cared less. look @ his facial expression, tells alot about his mindset.

Any fan complaining would be a moron.

When you're seven points down and offered almost 100% guaranteed points, you've got to take it every time. It's simple maths. Sure, we may never have scored the converted try to win the game, but several things have changed:

a) by being down by 5 points, Manly can't kick a field goal to end the game
b) a converted try suddenly is a match winner
c) psychological advantage

Instead, we opted to go for a potential try, didn't get it and Manly banged a field goal to seal the game a minute later. It was ****ing stupid and I hope every member of the Sharks coaching staff drills it into the players' brains that they're moronic for opting for the tap (assuming it was their decision.)

If anyone's going to be sacked for his facial expression it'd have to be Heighington, I reckon you could take a picture at his wedding and one just after an apocalypse and he'd look the same

while bak-ya looked like he lost a big bet.
perhaps i'm reading too much into it.

Ok so i just watched the replay and here are some thoughts:

- Bias aside, stapo did a lot of really good things, possibly our best. **** he is fast
- Kicking was pretty poor
- Soft tries killed us, very winnable game
- Too many fundamental errors, penalities and drop ball is absolutely killing us
- Toops was great, someone needs to be following him around whenever he is on
- De gois was back to his better form. Pumped up, angry and creative
- Townsend reads defences better, has better vision and throws passes better then robbo or even todd has all year. He needs to be 7 with carney at 6.
- Gal please get the **** out of the back line, seriously im so done with your **** mate
- I thought mills was solid. Good footwork, strong and has natural talent.

I reckon we would of beaten most teams even though we played badly.

i agree with pretty much everything you just said mate, good work, but we didnt play badly we clocked off a little with some soft tries but we were in it for most of the match

todd carney would have made a huge difference! If todd carney was playing imo we would have won

if wed have played the eels today the same way we played against manly we would have won easily

one of the main points and one u brought up was the errors, its nuts

apart from the result i had a good day at the footy and there were some good signs

Another shame is that with morris being concussed, Licheea probably would have been given a crack if we didnt have a round off this week.

Manly gave us every opportunity in the 2nd half to come back and take the 2 points. Once again, early in almost every set we went into panic mode and tried everything to score tries. Surely they must train to use your forwards, run out the set and go for an attacking kick or a grubber for a repeat set. Drives me ****ing insane! And our line defence. Running back 10.. moving up 2 metres and being pushed back 4 metres surely isnt part of the game plan, you watch any other side, they rush up into the attacking teams face and hit them hard!

My thoughts on the game

*Morris has been good for a couple of weeks, today IDG was much better. You could tell he wanted his starting spot back. Give it to him
*Lewy.. until now he had done **** all... had a rough start and gave away some stupid penalties but in the 2nd half finally came in-field and had some good runs. This week at camp will hopfully give him some confidence back..
*Gal.. tried to hard again..
*Stapo.. Welcome back!
*Pom, no where near his best
*Mills, not a first grader. FULL STOP.
*Fafita, Graham, Gordon, Ryan and Toupo.. full credit on a great game

***** Manly.. dirtiest players, especially DCE and Watmough, since Bird and Gal in 08!

Considering we only lost to one of the top sides in the comp by 7, and mostly to our own uselessness, things are looking up!

Rant over.

One more thing, are our forwards that ****ing lazy to get back after every opponents set with a kick into our half that we have 3-4 hit ups purely with backs. They go no where most of the time. IMO, this is where our forwards should be making some metres so we can get a kick off in their half. Surely our metres gained average is around the 30-40 mark for the season. Add that to the team with the worst completion and that equals try opportunities to our opponents!

Basically we have ****loads to work on before we will even get close to being a feared side. FFS, even Parra suppoters are laughing at us!

to be honest, I'm really unimpressed with what we've seen for the last three rounds. i always try to look for positives but in the end, it's just clutching at straws. there's piss all happening for us. defence isn't too crash hot. one million errors in six games (just checked the stats). giving away dumb penalties...lack of discipline. laziness in the forwards. backs never getting the ball thanks to Gallen helping himself to fringe running duties. when the backs get the ball, most of them suck anyway. when we get on the attack, we've got nothing; **** formations, predictable passes, poor last tackle options. supposedly better squads could be picked.

the only real thing i can be positive about is that i love seeing Gordon sniffing round for that offload. I think he picked up a couple today and each time it was dangerous. more of that. more big men doing the hitting up (not ****ing Mills and Pomeroy on the first few tackles) and getting some offloads away.

i thought this was going to be a season to remember, at this point it seems to be one that we'll remember for some of the wrong reasons.

i think our main problem was we got off to a bad start and were down 16- 0 after 20 minutes, i think we were the better team
for 60 minutes of the game but we can afford to get off to bad starts like this. in the end we went close and we had some ref decisions
go agaisnt us. but if we got off to a better start we could have won.
off course we were will better with carney back, and atleast it was a much improved performance today

Same story as will the Souths game - asleep for the first 15 mins and we dont have enough points in us to come back from 12-18 pts behind despite being the better team for the last 60mins.

On the positive side our completitions were much better this week.

We really missed Todd all game and Gordon in the 2nd half.

Stapleton did enough to be our 2nd winger.

Mills has to go... bring Gardner in!
