Sharks family friendly for Souths clash
September 01, 2009
A dance spectacular with over 1,000 dancers from various Sutherland Shire dance schools will be one of the features of the night on an evening where a fired up Sharks team will be hell-bent on chalking up a win to avoid the dreaded wooden spoon.
With Trent Barrett still unavailable Sharks coach Ricky Stuart made just one change to his team to take on Souths in what will be the last match of the 2009 season for both sides, with Mitch Brown moving from the centres to fullback and David Simmons earning a recall to the NRL side in the number three jersey. Brown’s move to fullback has seen Nathan Stapleton relegated to the Sharks under-20 Toyota Cup team.
Other than the reinstatement of Simmons, Stuart has stuck solid with the team that was desperately unlucky to fall to the Manly Sea Eagles last Sunday playing a man short for almost 60 minutes after Luke Douglas was sent from the field early in the match.
Douglas, who will play his 98th match in succession in the top grade for the Sharks, escaped suspension when the match review committee imposed a grade one careless charge on his tackle on Chris Bailey, with the 84 point penalty meaning he is clear to play against Souths on Saturday night.

In a special initiative this weekend the Sharks will open the doors and admit free of charge under 16 year olds, with the afternoon to feature three games, beginning with the semi final bound NSW Cup Sharks taking on the Central Coast Storm at 3.30pm.
The NRL match against Souths is set down for a 7.30pm kickoff.
