The mongrel from last week plus replacing Green with Barrett would surely make a pretty decent team!

I'm thinking of placing Porter (who scored a 56) and Gallen into my fantasy team this week, alongside Millington and Snowden. What d'you guys reckon? I have a small feeling kicking in the back of my mind that we're going to blow this last game out of the water.

If he is fit and wants to play - get him out there. We have never won a game with Blake Green in the side.

If Green was going to be with us next year, I wouldn't mind keeping him in the team for a bit of experience. But since he's moving on, having Baz back would be great.

I actually think we are a good chance for this game. A win would be a good finish to a terrible season.

Green is the biggest waste of space I have ever seen. Even pomeroy kills this bloke.. cant wait to see him leave.. Bring back Barrett but only if he is 100%.

If we don't get the spoon we can look back at this season as being just another season from hell like the many before.

But getting the spoon I reckon makes it ten times worse as that will be the only thing that's ultimately remembered.

The difference between coming 9th and coming second last isn't that big, but getting the spoon is a much bigger deal.

What's he going to injured from? A "hit" from Sandow? He'll be fine. Trent says he's ready, so get him out there.

Even if he does get injured (which I highly doubt), he has plenty of time before next season begins. I don't exactly see him being picked in the Australian side either, as much as I believe he should be there.

Sharks family friendly for Souths clash
September 01, 2009

A dance spectacular with over 1,000 dancers from various Sutherland Shire dance schools will be one of the features of the night on an evening where a fired up Sharks team will be hell-bent on chalking up a win to avoid the dreaded wooden spoon.

With Trent Barrett still unavailable Sharks coach Ricky Stuart made just one change to his team to take on Souths in what will be the last match of the 2009 season for both sides, with Mitch Brown moving from the centres to fullback and David Simmons earning a recall to the NRL side in the number three jersey. To view the full team list click here

Brown’s move to fullback has seen Nathan Stapleton relegated to the Sharks under-20 Toyota Cup team.

Other than the reinstatement of Simmons, Stuart has stuck solid with the team that was desperately unlucky to fall to the Manly Sea Eagles last Sunday playing a man short for almost 60 minutes after Luke Douglas was sent from the field early in the match.

Douglas, who will play his 98th match in succession in the top grade for the Sharks, escaped suspension when the match review committee imposed a grade one careless charge on his tackle on Chris Bailey, with the 84 point penalty meaning he is clear to play against Souths on Saturday night.

For the NRL team announcement, Douglas’s thoughts on his sending off and subsequently being cleared to play, as well as how he believes the Sharks will measure up to Souths on Saturday night, view this Sharks TV Excluisve

In a special initiative this weekend the Sharks will open the doors and admit free of charge under 16 year olds, with the afternoon to feature three games, beginning with the semi final bound NSW Cup Sharks taking on the Central Coast Storm at 3.30pm.

The NRL match against Souths is set down for a 7.30pm kickoff.

Why the hell was Stapo dropped? Sure he didn't have his best game but what's the point of dropping him for the last game of the year and shatter his confidence for the off season, only to put Brown into fullback (who is leaving the Sharks) and bring back Simmo (who sucks balls and is also leaving the Sharks).

Ricky FFS what are you doing? :birdno

I couldn't really care less about Stapleton. If anything, his absence could be a gift. In saying that however, I agree that dropping him for the final round and ridding him of any confidence he actually had in himself was a fairly unwise move. Sure, if it was for a quality player I would understand and be cheering. But Simmons? Jesus Christ. Hopefully he doesn't touch that ball.

He got his back corkscrewed in a gang tackle against the maroon scum - and wasn't right after that.

I reckon Ricky is just resting him up.

Okay if he's resting him then that's fair enough.

So I take it Porter was okay after the game? If so that's pretty good because I was a bit worried he'd injure easily, but he seems to be pretty good in that department.
