Without trying to sound like a smartarse i know how you Sharkies supporters must feel atm.
It's happened to Souths more time than i can remember but you just need to support your team through every emotional obstacle there is.
That's what the game is all about staying solid to your team & never waiver in your support.
And when you win that first premiership it will all be worth it.

What do you think about us not backing ourselves?

We could have won both of our last games if we backed ourselves to score instead of taking the penalties.

SB16, I wouldn't use the word excited just happy to finish a year where we once again failed to reach our expectations.
Most think that Souths are going places but since we made the semi's in 2007 we have missed out in consecutive seasons.
That tells me that our current management know how to deal with business issues but they dont know how to run a NRL rugby league team to remain competitive.
We'll see how next year goes but if we dont make the top 8 then some serious questions need to be asked & i dont think all the blame should fall into Jason Taylors lap either.

Sorry Peach, but I watched every NSW then, ARL then NRL game ever week (where possible) since 1987 and whilst I wouldn’t call Matt Wright the worst NRL player he’s pretty close to it this year. He’s just not up to NRL defence plain and simple; give him another 2 or 3 lower grade years please!

Also, Ricky Stuart should really look into the mirror this morning and take some responsibility for much of what’s happened this year. Personally I think he’s a good coach and knows the game, but I think he needs a year or two off coaching because his decision making this year has let him down. Please let Flanno take over for at least next year and have a rest Stick – it may be better for your long term viability in that profession? Just a thought!

Matt Wright is very ordinary for a "newer" player to first grade. Compare him to the likes of Croker or Locke.

matt wright only turned 18 this year ffs..he should only just be an NYC player but got thrown into first grade in many positions, cut the guys some slack

All up in your pixels
I still don't see his excuse for missing that tackle on Geddes?

Anyway, I'm over it now. We avoided the spoon, so that was the main thing. Looking ahead to what will *hopefully* be a better season.

Also just checked my fantasy team. Gallen scored 51 points, even though he was sin-binned. Wow, imagine the numbers if he wasn't :drunk

Cut the kid some slack...

"Andrew Ettingshausen (born 29 October 1965 in Sutherland, New South Wales) is an Australian former rugby league footballer of the 1980s and 1990s. He played his first grade Australian club football for the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks. Known for his deceptive pace, good hands and ability to score tries, "ET" as he was known, represented both New South Wales and Australia.

Ettingshausen was originally signed to the Cronulla side as a teenager before making his debut at seventeen while still at school at De La Salle Cronulla.

After an initial period in First Grade he returned to reserve grade to hone his natural skills and get experience in professional Rugby League

He quickly cemented a place in the Sharks first grade side and ultimately played 328 first grade games with the club over an eighteen seasons.

From a time in the early 1990s he was seen as the face of rugby league in Australia. His rugged good looks equipped him well to be pushed to the front by the marketers of the game at that time and Ettingshausen did not disappoint with his athletic skills attracting the interest of traditional fans while his looks appealed to a growing base of female fans.
C'mon guys, don't be so quick to cut him down - even Rugby League and Sharks legends had to start somewhere.

The same muppets who are saying "sack Wright" will be the ones crying if we let him go and he starts performing for another club at the old age of 20.

Sharks supporting National Shades Day - Bid for heritage jersey
September 08, 2009

In a point of difference for their final game of the 2009 season the Sharks ran out onto Toyota Stadium wearing the heritage-style jersey, featuring the black and white ‘V’ on the sky blue background, a jersey which traces back its origins to the first Cronulla teams to play at Sutherland Oval back in the late 1960’s.

The entire Sharks team took to the field with the MIA logoed jumpers, with all 17 jerseys to then be auctioned off and the proceeds donated to the MIA.

The Sharks all individually signed their team jerseys following the match. The jerseys are now in a silent online auction on the MIA website.

The auction is live today and will run through until 3.00pm on Saturday, September 12. To bid please visit Menlonoma Institute Australia website

Agreed. But i think much of the criticism was the usual post-loss sulk that is often seen here (and with this season it is understandable).

Sure his defence is questionable and he also has many other aspects of his game to improve on, but can we please not forget that he may be lacking those skills because he wasn't ready for first grade this season? We will never get good youngsters coming through if we expect them all to make the jump from NYC to NRL with no problems. I really am worried about what will happen to Albert Kelly next year. He may have lots of potential but at the moment thats all it is and he will not come in and be the saviour.
