hey guys, well done, credit where credit is due. the refs, whoops I mean sharks, played very well tonight. seriously, when was the last time a team scored 4 penalty goals in a match? that knock on that was changed to a strip was a good laugh and our no try topped the lot. oh well, 1st place is still ours, and although we may not win the premiership this year, it makes me feel better knowing neither will you. nor have you ever. nor will you ever.

Arguably our best of the season. Full strength team, and from a points perspective a flawless first half. The second was disappointing in conceding four tries, but at least we held our lead. That first half was the best defence we'd seen for a long time, reminded me of our 08 season. Chooks and their supporters can be such grubs when it doesn't go their way. Looking forward to seeing them below the 8 next year (though what a difference buying Jennings and Sbw has had).

Just wanted to give my thoughts on the game.

Great to get the win against the comp leaders and a 26-0 score at half time was just unbelievable. Evertonshark and myself were just in awe of how we had played.
I thought we really took it to them and was as physical as we can be. Masterstroke by Carney to kick a 40/20 in the first set of six. That's something that you just don't expect. Not sure if that is ever done.
I was thinking before the game how Carney had started the year well with 40/20s but hadn't done so many and had fallen behind other players. Then up he pops and does that.

The forward pack was awesome. Gal, Fifita, Wade, Lewie, Toops, Heighno and Taga all stuck it to them. We really put them on the back foot and hurt them in the tackles.
For our tries, Gal's was pretty lucky as was Gordon's due to Pom's "stripped" ball. He definitely lost that, we were lucky to get the penalty. Jono's try was a good backline movement, well worked and finished and Heighno at the end was just cheeky but really summed up how the Roosters were going.

At half time, you just knew the Roosters were going to come back. They have too much firepower to just give in and one thing the Sharks find hard to defend is when teams throw the ball around. In the end we didn't do too badly to hold them out but you always had the feeling that they were going to run over the top of us.

Yes, the refereeing was awful but for both sides. Too many penalties and again it just seemed like the refs wanted to give them. Twice there were three or four in a row for both sides but no one sent to the bin? I thought the RTS try was a try. The Roosters player can't go anywhere and I don't think Boogs was going to stop Sonny Bill. So we did have some luck go our way.

Again we seemed to shut up shop too early and defend the lead. We need to be smarter than that. Our kicking game that was on fire in the first half seemed to go astray in the second. Carney seemed to find them more on the full and whatever De Gois was doing once on tackle five near our half way line God only knows. Some poor options in the second half when the pressure was on.

Very happy to get the win though but we will still find it hard to match the big sides come semi final time. I'm more confident on winning our first game this time around but will still be nervous as it is knockout.

Have read a great deal of reports on last night's game and am still disgusted and really angry to see that the journos still like to drop ASADA into every article they write. When will they get the message that the on-field stuff has nothing to do with it. Every man and his dog knows we are under investigation, I don't understand why they have to keep mentioning it.

Anyway a great night at Shark Park, bring on the Cowboys this Sunday. It will be tough as the boys were really physical last night and it would have taken some toll on them. They may find it hard to get up to the level again.

The outside inside ball (melbourne storm move ) From A.Tupou to M.Gordans try in the first half was something special.

Some great comments in the smh power rankings today on the Sharks.
Theyve now said its a five-horse race for the premiership, and also put our NSW cup team ahead of the eels, lol.

Yeah but they piss me off with that bloody asterisk! WTF is that? They haven't used it before and now just because we beat the Roosters and reluctantly have to include us in the top five, they still want to exclude us by putting in an asterisk!

Is it a Storm move, I know we've been using it for ages, obviously not as succesful though.
storm started it, smith outside to cronk but inside to slater. usually in the op's 30 not so close to the line.

i think it was a fair ball, it wouldnt have been called a sheppard/obstruction had he not been offside to sonny bill. therefore the offside player impeded the play. had he been onside it woulda been a try i think

thats where it works for us, we've had it work with a few guys now, graham, lewis ans toupo all throwing the last pass, had graham gordon and caney all score from it.
