That's not how it works. The one out stuff is the foundation, not the centrepiece. Carney taking guys on cross field, Graham playing down the left blindside, Smith hitting his edge runners. That's where we get the points.

But none of that will happen without doing the hard stuff well which was the problem last week.

Edit: I agree that the kicking game needs work though. Still very, very mediocre.

Did you watch how bad we were with the ball in the hand in the first half? Carney is getting alot of wraps but he is really only being effective in 2 or 3 plays a game. Some of that backline play was under 10 stuff. Our defence was very comitted but we are still that up and down I don't see us threatening in the finals when the intensity goes up a notch.

I hear what you're saying AB, but I still wouldn't have Robson in the team. We would've won far more comfortably with Chad in that spot.

He played better than usual though, just not good enough.

**** Mr Wright. My condolences. Those kind of payouts only come up once, maybe twice a year. I shouldn't remind you that Carney has missed a heap of easy kicks this year. Imagine how much that bad boy would have paid if you went Sharks 13+?

I was knocked for a few things recently:

Claiming Souths won't bounce back from their loss to win against us this week
For supporting Robbo and his ability to produce some good plays
For saying that Gallen is a poor captain

Validation is a wonderful thing

How do you know that, do you have a crystal ball? How did Chad go in first grade tonight? Oh that's right he didn't play cause some one else has his spot.

I did. I agree. Point is- we won anyway. Its not the be all and end all. The other stuff is the key. It has to improve but it was never going to until we put in that sort of tough and honest performance first.

On Carney- we won't see the best of him until we surround him with some guys who have a naturally higher skill level than Pom or Williams.

Now how about you all go back and read through the crap and trash you posted through the game like I just did.

Agreed mate.

15 minutes into this game I knew we turned up to play. 15 minutes into last game I knew we didn't turn up and would definitely lose. I don't understand why people were talking crap earlier in the thread.

That's not how it works. The one out stuff is the foundation, not the centrepiece. Carney taking guys on cross field, Graham playing down the left blindside, Smith hitting his edge runners. That's where we get the points.

So glad someone else sore that in last weeks game. We were playing the Knights and should have matched up better than them everywhere except the outside backs. Yet we tried to go wide before going straight. It was the worst possible strategy. Tonight we play a good pack and run hard and tackle hard in the middle and win the game. This is our foundation and it's the only foundation that will work for us, as that's where out competitive advantage is. Not rocket science imo.

Hotdogs was good
Stapo was his usual ****. Should never where the black white and blue ever again

I disagree. I thought Stapo was good tonight. Our back three were targeted all night. Wright was mentally soft for too much of the game but overall I think the back three handled it fairly well. It seemed like their deliberate tactic and it didn't work for them. Without our back three playing better than Souths expected they would, we lose that game every time.

The only thing that is valid is that you are an idiot.

wright had a great game tonight, I didn't find a pub showing the game in Melbourne until Carney was converting the first goal, was then disappointed to see him miss a penalty, what was that?

watched the rest of the game with a stranger who was a well mannered bunnies fan ... made it hard to gloat

Validation? Not on my watch champ. You claim Robson is a good player. He isn't. He may have broke even tonight but he is the second best halfback at the club and he would make a decent reserve grade toiler.
