Whilst I thought we maybe deserved a few little ruck penalties, all those big moments they got right IMO.
Kahu looked onside, fifita definitely knocked on and we recieved no advantage because the ball wasn't played. We could have won that game if we turned up.
Kahu was definitely offside. I was sat right in line with it. In front for sure. I have seen those turned around by the bunker because they can't see both feet behind. Brisbane gets the benefit of the doubt that other teams do not.
On the sin bin one, I'm not arguing that the ref made the right call there. I agree with the call, but I disagree with Brisbane being able to play the advantage in a near identical situation. I can't remember a single time in an NRL game where a team has been able to play out their fifth tackle only for the referee to come back and award a penalty for holding down. I think it would make a great rule change, but it's not a rule at the moment.
As for Fifita, they didn't rule a knock on. They ruled that he kicked it accidentally. I.e. The bunker can read minds. After awarding the Tedesco one versus the Titans they had to award that one. If it was a knock on that would be fine.
... and finally ... the one that annoyed me the most was Milford dropping the ball cold in the tackle, having it hit a Shark player, and getting 6 to go. I know you can make an argument that the ball went down or sideways, but NRL refs have been ruling that as a knock on 100 out of 100 times for the last 20 years.
My point here is not that they made "wrong decisions" but that they are choosing how to interpret rules to suit themselves. It reminded me of years ago when the video ref first started intervening in games to overrule on field knock on calls even though it wasn't in the rules. It's bull****.
