haha. took his ****en sweet time though.
im not sure on ball control. both sides coughed up a lot of pill and im assuming it was pretty damp out there. id still say our attack let us down, as we had ample opportunities, and rarely troubled their defense. either way, ****e result, and I think flanno needs to make some changes, or nothing changes for us.

Agree. Both sides coughed it up and yes I realise one of ours led directly to a try for them. But we had so many opportunities to put this game to bed but the same old problem exists, if Carney doesn't do it we're screwed. We would have to be the worst team in the 8 attacking inside 20 metres, it's embarrassing to watch sometimes.

Anyone thinking we will go deep into September should take the sharks glasses off. Far too much reliance on Carney and it looks like being the same next year.

Ours led to a try, but so did one of theirs too.

Noticed Robson had the ball in his hands alot more than he usually would. Did alot more kicking (poor kicking) Todd did alot more running.

The only way I can see us going deep into the finals is if we have some luck.

Although we lost last night, the Knights are a team with alot of attack, and we did well to only allow 3 tries, given the way we played. We beat them in round 8, close encounter in this round. If we come up against them in round 1 of the semis anything could happen. I can see us playing Canberra again in week 1.

Noticed that too. Don't know why we'd want the ball in his hands more, it makes us even more predictable if that's possible.

We really need some "scenario training" on how to play when you're in front with ten minutes to go.

Last night we reverted to the most predictable one-out football again. Five really easy-to-read hit ups/dummy-half runs, then having to do a poor kick from within our 40m. We must have done that 3 or 4 sets in a row.

I'm not suggesting we play as The Entertainers, but there needs to be some practised decoys or second-man plays, and some subtlety from the dummy-half. Morris had a good game but 99 times out of 100 you know which side he's going to give the ball to.

I don't see any other NRL team play like we do when ahead.

Aside from that, we hung in there well considering all the errors. Newcastle's defense was good, and they were allowed to get away with murder in the ruck.

Not really. Robson kicked 7 x 122m, Carney 14 x 413m
In comparison mullen kicked for 713m and Roberts 25m

Carney ran the ball 13 times
Robson 4

I recorded and just finished watching the game and jeeeeesus we were unlucky. Our defence was solid but i really think Gal made things way to predictable for uncle benny's men.
I think we were also lucky that fagius Boyd had a quiet game.
Now I can't wait to smash the drag queens and some payback from the ambush we received earlier in the year.

Been saying this all year Gardner needs to be in our 17. Don't know why flanno doesn't give him a go.

**** we should of buried these guys. The drags game will be similar to this.. a tough grinding battle. This win would of secured finals football. Im so mad. Mullo is a smart **** who spotted that feki cant leap the shortass. Stapo was rocked all game after his error and gal was murdering our offence.

We still should of won. Id move feki to centres and bring in beau. Also de gwah has to go. Bring gards or peach in. So tempted to abuse gal on twitter. ****

didnt say he kicked it more than Carney. I said he kicked it more than normal, or handled the ball alot more. Seemed our hooker (degois) kept sending it Robbos way.

Completely agree with your point re scenario training. They compressed their line knowing we would only play one out. A simple tip on or sweep play would have opened up lots of space.

Secondly in defence we did not read the chip at all well enough. A team down by 2 with less than 5 to play is going to try that. We needed someone to sweep like an old school halfback role and that could have been cleaned up without all of the panic that ensued. Again no one read it, apart from Gordon who made a good tackle but that then took him out of play.

The final kick, neither Feki nor Wright did enough. Even punching it dead would have been a reasonable play to run the clock down and have to defend one more set from the drip out but neither of them got near enough to the ball. It was a great kcik but poorly defended.

the fact that our leading try scorer is a PROP says it all,we have got f-all.If it wasnt for good discipline and ball control we wouldnt even be near the 8.Centres,wingers and interchange dummy half are the biggest problems.

Going for the 2 was probably our worst decision.
We had the knights trapped down in the own half for 10minutes. And they weren't going anywhere. The kick gave them a rest and also put the game back down In our half.
We should of backed ourselves and kept putting the pressure on.

True sharks fans should be so pissed off about losing that game. Whenever we lose its our wingers or centres that get rooted. Gal kills our offense. Why is he so obsessed with his 200 metres a game? Gibbs and taga can eat metres

So we woulda lost 18-12 not 18-14. We werent going to score on them. Thats why we took the 2. We had the ball there and werent applying pressure, they also werent feeling it. The 2 was our best chance of points.

I agree with alot of this.

Im happy for Gal to be the 'inspirational skipper' people like to talk of, but what the **** does 200meters and a gazillion tackles a game mean if you arent winning? What does it matter if we have gal and fifita as wrecking balls making all these meters when we have oppositions making nearly 100 extra tackles a game and they still beat us? Simple, his meters do not matter. It doesnt matter if we take our 5th tackle kick from their 40, our 40 or watever, they still get the ball on the 20 cos it either goes dead or they catch it on the full on the 20. Our attacking meters mean nothing compared to our defensive meters, and we are giving too much of those up. The last try they scored last night came of a 100 meter set of 6 nearly. Thats what is unforgivable, not the fact they scored a try, that is the purpose of the game, but the fact we allowed them to skip down field so quickly

Flanno have a look at Robson's stats and compare it with the halfbacks of teams in the top 4 or even 8 !!!! there's your ****ffggg answer.... 0 runs 0 metres 12 tackles 1 miss tackle....
