Seymour makes amends at Shark Park

Warriors coach Ivan Cleary knew the pressure was on former Cronulla playmaker Brett Seymour when he made his return to Shark Park on Saturday night.
Seymour had the same feeling, but it had little to do with playing against his former club and rather a desire to make amends for some indifferent displays, which had left the Warriors' top eight hopes in the balance.
He responded with a top-shelf performance in his side's 37-10 win, and while the victory maintained the Warriors' grip on eighth spot, Seymour knows they will need to improve if they are to be serious title challengers.
"We're going to have to get a lot better if we're going to go anywhere in this comp," Seymour said.
"You want to build momentum and winning does that, you look at the run Parramatta got on last year and I think the Titans are shaping up like that this year."
Asked about returning to Shark Park, where he had three indifferent seasons before being shown the door for one alcohol-related indiscretion too many midway through last year, Seymour played down the significance.
"I'm just happy to be playing at the moment and things pan out the way they do," he said.
"I'm just happy to be at the Warriors now."
Cleary says the manner in which his two halves responded to the previous week's loss to the Titans - with five-eighth James Maloney securing a personal haul of 17 points against the Sharks - gave him confidence heading into the final four matches of the regular season.
"It was probably special for them because last week they probably put their hand up for a performance a bit less than what we hoped for," he said.
"With Buster (Seymour) in particular coming back here, there was a fair bit of pressure on him this week - that's even more reason to be happy they controlled things as well."
Cleary says Jerome Ropati is unlikely to return from a groin injury against Newcastle next weekend, though his replacement Joel Moon did a tremendous job in his absence against the Sharks.
