I wonder if he hadn't talkled Coote, if they would have went to video ref?

Sunday Footy show replayed it and had the refs microphone as audio. Hayne words re coote were to the effect of "was he offside there? if he gets over we should go up and check it" then coote got tackled, silence for about 15 seconds and then the whistle blown when the feild goal went over.

Very very hard to watch!!!

Damn that sucks.

When we don't play to the whistle we get shafted, when we do play to the whistle we get shafted. **** it's hard to be a fan of this game.

I reckon he would have made it.
But thats just my opionion.

We are just settling with an average first grade winger.
Reluctantly I would still have him in my team this year. But, Only because we have no one esle.

You literally cannot compare him with 90% of other wingers in the comp.
He just isnt a first grade player.

Still probably our best winger unfortunately.

I'd be happy with Stapo being our third best winger with the chance for him to improve his game especially if he can get an injury free season. I reckon he'll get better.

Yeah I'd say your right. He is our best winger... Sadly.
Surely his major injury would play on his confidence hugely.
I can see the potential.
But I can't see the performances at the moment...

You can see the performance in patches though surely?

He's had some very good moments. If he can do them more consistently, and remove the bad moments, he can be a good winger.

Yep. These decisions will make players risk making their own decisions in the future because a call will only be made if the player scores.

I said it before in this (or similar) thread: The video ref might be good at adjudicating tries and no tries but they effectively undermine the instant decision making skills of the on field ref. It's a fall back that causes indecision and it is causing problems not only in this instance, and not only when tries are scored.

I'm sure many a time the refs are 'slightly unsure' and let it go because they have the fall back of referring to the video ref. If a try isn't scored then it's simply written off as 'oh well, it didn't matter'.

If something is blatant the video ref needs to say something. More refs and the decisions have become worse. I do not remember such consistent game affecting bad calls from many years ago.

Remove media and commentary speculation and backlash of every possible decision and give the on field refs back some confidence.

Yeah patches.
His best game this year was against the Baby Broncs.
10/10.
But now, remains to be seen.

I also hate the 'we are cracking down on this or this' bull****.

The refs were cracking down on being offside off the kickoff. But not for a whole season? What's the point of that? Do it in every single game,it's hardly a taxing exercise.

Well he cost us the game. If stapo was smart enough to let him score we would of won
If we don't make the semis this year I blame stapo and he should be kicked and stoned out of cronulla

Not sure if serious???

'...let him score...'???

If he does that and the video ref comes up with some other decision you guys lynch him for not playing the whistle, like MB says.

He was just being sarcastic.

I know it's hard to spot with sharks2010 as he's destroyed his own credibility several times here.

I agree. I'd prefer if we went back to in goal refs to help the ref make a decision on tries and get rid of the video ref altogether. They are so scared to make decisions now it's getting silly.

Stopped hurrel scoring that try, intercept to win the game against Brisbane and tackling coote in golden point.

We made tackles in golden point? All I remember is a flash of light and then the game was over...

Come on stapo haters blame him for tackling coote now

People should get over this, yes it's a crap rule but we are woeful in golden point, can't get in position or slot a field goal so unlikely we were going to win anyway without a lucky penalty inside their 40.

I also hate the 'we are cracking down on this or this' bull****.

It irks me too. They should be consistantly cracking down on a whole host of infrigements for the credibility of the game. Not just focusing on the media fueled rules issue of the week that is all the rage.
They are like Police, this month crack down on speeding, next month drink driving ect

It is a weird one, when hes on hes ****ing on, big hit ups, can make a break and strong enough to hold his own against any player, has a good tackling technique and good anticipation.

He has all the makings of a really good footy player.

He just needs the confidence, which he should have, hes got everything he needs to be a good player.

Agreed, he could be a very similar player to perret imo but it doesn't seem to me like he is or ever will completely get over the fear of injuring himself again. If he does he will play with plenty of consistency.
