Cordoba had his best game for us, and from what I remember possibly the best game of his FG career.

I want Vave back in the side, he adds something when he comes on and I think if he was there in the final 15 or so of the first half and the opening minutes of the 2nd .. who knows.

We just cannot afford to carry Covell on a wing anymore. He is just too slow. Twice I think Poms got him ball in the clear and he just putted along in slow motion and got wrapped up easily without making any ground on where the pass was thrown from. Most wingers put the foot down and points are usually scored.

Yep, he is being carried alright. He was very poor in defence last night and offers nothing in attack. To be honest both our wingers are pretty poor by first grade standards, Gordon really doesnt do much either.

But Gordon has speed to burn which gets him out of a lot of the trouble he can find himself in. All the other stuff he can learn and so long as he keeps his speed he will only get better.

Horrible defence on the Pom/Covell side cost us the game.

I'd also swap Cov for Tautai and bring Vave back in the side.

SFP would be a better player if he'd played first grade all year, which I think he should of in hind sight.

I was thinking the same thing.

The ball seems to make its way to the left more often than the right from what I can tell, and things have looked more likely to happen around Poms than they have around Collis. Gordon's speed is being wasted where he is, and any opportunities that crop up around Poms are being wasted when Covell gets the ball and throws the handbrake on.

Pomeroy and Covell need to get back to 08 form on both sides of the ball. Unfortunately I don't see that ever happening.

Why does everyone want to go backwards? We should be raising the bar, setting the standard for 2011, not looking to dish out 2/3yr old footy.

And its just not gonna happen for Covell. He's not even first choice kicker anymore.

Poms is just such a perfect powerhouse centre prospect I wouldn't be keen to let him go just yet. If Flanno could get Poms to reach his full potential he'd be our Inglis.

Your kidding arent you. Poms has been outstanding since he came back. Very dangerous with the ball and excellent in defence.

I agree with replacing Covell. His defence was normally his strong point to overcome his lack of speed but he seems to have little of either. I thought Tautai was originally a winger. I could imagine him thundering down the sideline and giving fullback nightmares.

Yeah tautai has played most of his' first grade football on the left hand wing, also he is good to bring up the first hit ups before the props get back (instead of Gordon, far out!), for mine this is a definate improvement, also clears the room for Vave to come back in.

if you play barrett, gallen, tupou, pomeroy and tautai on the left hand side it would be a very damaging attack, not sure on defence but.
usually we attack on the left but yeah, tautai would be damaging.
not sure if he is fast for those line breaks but the only good thing bout tautai besides him being a big guy is that he can finish within the 20ms-10ms from the oppposition tryline.

i cant see him run fast when barrett or pomeroy put him through a gap.

Cov missed 6 tackles last night. Usually when wingers miss tackles it leads to a break or a try. I am not keen on the TT idea on the wing either. He wouldn't of done any better than Cov in those attacking situations last night.

So we accept for a moment that they're both gonna get found out in defence and weigh up who is gonna offer more with ball in hand and for me its TT. He might not be super fast, but he blows Covs off the paddock and he's also got the size to help out on tackles 1 & 2 from the kick return. If a break is made I wouldn't wanna be the fullback with him and Poms coming at me that just isn't gonna end well.

I disagree, there is no way he is as slow as the Cov.

The Cov was terrible last night, Tautai has played the vast majority of his' first grade on the wing.

He should at least be given an opportunity in the position he was good at, before judging him.

Definitely close to the line, TT is gonna be a scary guy. I don't see him scoring long distance tries however. The two Covell attack situations I remember where long distance.

Lot of muscle in defence also. I don't think it will happen though. TT would 9 times out of 10 run over the top of a winger.

Yeah - the three tries through Pom against Manly and the two down that side last night can be attributed to his excellence in defence.

Personally I think Pom is back to 08 form now. He was always bad in defense. In 08 he had Covell (in form), Gallen and Bird defending with him. Now he's got Covell (playing poorly), Tupou and either Smith or Porter. It's a lot more obvious now.

Attack-wise, I think Pom is playing very well now. He's curbed most of the ridiculous mistakes from his game (passing to the touchie v Knights being the exception) and he is running strongly. He's never going to be the sort of player who sets up his winger, so what we are getting now is about par for the course.

Covell hasn't been any worse than the guys around him. I wouldn't drop him, but I think 2010 will be his last season.

I doubt TT would of gone 60+ meters to score off those opportunities either, but he would made some ground before being tackled and earning a quick play the ball. Covs does the 2 steps in field, a spin and an attempted palm off before 3 blokes bring him to ground. Defence gets set, all momentum gone and a slow play the ball.

Agree with all the Cov talk. We surely san not resign him. Understand he loves the club etc etc, but we want to win and these days you can not carry a player as slow as him on the wing. You are only as quick as your slowest player and when he gets the ball, well i think the camera man could fall asleep and still keep up!

Cordoba has been really solid since his return from injury, Wright will only improve with more time on the field and i want Vave back in the side, so i'm hoping to see a bench of Aiton, Vave, Wright, and Cordoba, so unless Tautai starts i can't see him being in the side, Poms has also been good since returning, been hitting hard in defense and has had some good touches with the ball...
