Well he's named at 13 this weekend, so again another year of him not going to prop is very likely.

Playing in the 13 jumper doesn't mean he'll play at lock all game. I wouldn't be surprised if he went to prop on the first interchange.

Thats not ideal, id prefer a fresh prop not a 2nd rower moving to lock so gal can go the the front row but still play out wide which is likely

Which is pretty much what he's been doing for 5 years.

I don't care what number Gal has on his back, I just wanna see Gal play the role what's best for the team like doing his hit ups
(doesn't need to do 2 x per set)

keeping it tight in the middle in defence, not jumping in at first receiver when we are in attack & letting his teammates getting their fair share of the ball.

Over to you Flano.

I'd love to see gal run decoys when we are attacking 10 meters out, he always attracts 2 or more defenders because most times he gets the ball, get him to run the decoy and throw the cut out pass, he's not utilized enough in that sense imo

I think we're saving that for the GF.

Scream the same thing to my TV often during our games, I'd love us to do the little outside inside move that the storm do with slater.

im not too bothered by our rd 1 make up. Theres always gunna be inclusions we dont agree with. But I guess training form/fitness/injury/attitude are things we arent always in the know of. I think what matters is when push comes to shove you wanna see the team sheet change in a positive way through the season. If Gallen starts at 13 i can handle that. Its his role as a 13 or a prop that matters. He isnt an 11 playing next to a centre he is just part of the motor now.

Gal can have the 13 on his back, but needs to run out in the 10 position so we can have a better forward pack on the field.

8. Fifita
9. Ennis
13. Gal
11. Lewis (if fit) Otherwise Bukuya
12. Graham
14. Heighno

Bench:
Tupou
Bukuya (if Lewis plays)
Arona/ Fifita/ Houma/ Prior (in that order)
Bird

I believe Taga is injured anyway

A lot of people are still leaving Prior out despite him being named to start tonight.

He was bad last year. But he's got a lot more runs on the board over the course of his career than any of the other fringe forwards and by all accounts he's had a top pre season. I wouldn't be surprised to see him start.

At his best (as in the Nines) he's a good (not great) player.

Sadly at his usual standard he is too lightweight (where we need size and impact) and has poor hands.

Size one of the most over rated factors on this forum. To me it doesnt matter how big you are as long as you are effective in your role. It looks 'cool' to have one of those giant ball busting props in the mould of D.Fifita/Houma making massive charges at the line. But those kind of players arent necessarily effective the whole time theyre on the field.

Prior has proven he can play direct through the middle and get necessary yards. He is also a terrific ruck defender when playing low minutes. Something i cant say for D.Fifita or Houma. I'd be inclined to have Prior over Taga in the team and have him, big Dave and Houma fight for a spot.

i think a lot of people forget theirs 2 sides to the game and a big barnstorming unfit/unexperienced prop is often the one leaking line breaks on the other side of the ball. Letting down all the good they may have created with ball in hand.

Spot on mate, good post. We have no idea how Houma and D Fifita will go with sustained minutes in defence, especially Houma.
