God I hope thats our side. I didnt see houma play. But I think taga and a.fifita would be ahead of prior in the prop department. Bird has to be there too. Pretty light bench though.

We have had the ****test centres for so many years and now we have ayshford beale feki gagan leutele bird to choose from. Happy with any of these. Ayshfords form in the nines was awsome.
Not to light on the bench Houma is a big unit

I want more size on the bench but I'm still concerned by Houma's mobility. Three or four big charges aren't worth a try and a linebreak in the other direction.

From what I've seen of him (which admittedly isn't a lot) Houma has the potential to fill the "other role" the Sharks need filling to be a force - the big aggressive 1st tackle 12-15 metre gaining rampaging prop (think JWH / George Burgess / Civo). If he has the aggression, heart and enough mongrel in him he might just turn out to be the surprise buy of our season.

We can dream cant we?

I would really like to see Houma get some minutes as the year goes on. I probably wouldn't play him round one though. They should play him for long minutes in the NSW cup to get his fitness up and then start giving him short stints in the NRL. I remember reading that he was 127kg, which is huge!! The should probably try and get him to loose 5-8 KG and make him a bit quicker,

If you were a season ticket holder in the Matty C stand, you'd already have your reserved seat! :p

Are you looking forward to champagne, caviar and cucumber sandwiches with the crust cut off for round 1?

Mate, don't mind the champers but caviar and cucumber can take a flying leap! Can't stand the stuff. No, no. Just some bruschetta and a meat lovers pizza will do.

I'd be surprised not to see Tagatese in the side.

Not sure how his pre-season training has gone other than the occasional positive report on him and the boys but he shouldn't be starting round 1 in first grade unless he has grown some heartlage and fixed his attitude

Prior/Artona ect offers much better value coming off the bench than Mr takeiteasy

Fox sports take on our rnd 1 team this year...

Michael Gordon, Sosaia Feki, Gerard Beale, Ricky Leutele, Valentine Holmes, Ben Barba, Jeff Robson, Andrew Fifita, Michael Ennis, Sam Tagataese, Luke Lewis, Wade Graham, Paul Gallen. Interchange: Anthony Tupou, Chris Heighington, Jayson Bukuya, Tinirau Arona

Notable absentees: Fa’amanu Brown (ACL, season), Jacob Gagan (hamstring), Matt Prior, Nathan Gardner, David Fifita, Jack Bird, Blake Ayshford, Kyle Stanley, Junior Roqica, Pat Politoni, Mitch Brown, Sami Sauiluma, Saulala Houma

Comment: Ben Barba and Jeff Robson are confirmed as the halves pairing. Michael Gordon and young gun Valentine Holmes are set to share the fullback duties - as they did at the back end of last year. We haven’t found a backline spot for Jack Bird, but he is in contention following a stunning showing at the Nines. New recruit Michael Ennis slots straight into hooker and is likely to play 80 minutes, with no bench utility named. Luke Lewis (knee) is battling an ongoing injury, but he is a certain starter for round one if fit.

Luke Lewis is a certain starter for round 1, if he is fit.. Huh... Battling to overcome a injury wouldn't make one a certain starter. In the team round one if fit may read bettera...
