I like the man! Clearly a gifted and learned journo - the pick of the bunch!

God bless him. He definately has a soft spot for the sharks, in the tipping contests last year he picked them almost every week. It worked well for part of the season but kinda let him down over the last 10 weeks. Phils def a sharks man.

Phil

The nice way of thinking about this is:
Fantastic to see a Sharks boy made good.

The sad way of thinking about this is:
Clearly this journo is delusional and should be protected from both himself and society.

yeah interesting. rothfield only started supporting the sharks in the last few years - i think he bought a house in the shire and his young kids are mad sharks fans. but he was an ardent panthers fan up until the mid 90s. dont get how someone can change teams like that, but good to have him on board.

Hello Fellow Sharks...back after a break!
I have to admit, Rothfield's opinion does smack of a decent dose of optimism. But, if he's like us supporters, he would be noticing what has been happening down at the shire & be reasonably impressed enough to be quietly confident of a successful season. BUT, I still stick by my feeling that 2008 will be the one! Mainly because Ricky (& staff) will have had a solid year to improve the areas required & also be out in the marketplace purchasing appropriate strengths.

From Canberra but in London for 09
It just goes to show. Next year is looking good for us. More people talk us up the better. If we can stay low on the injuries. I think we can go all the way. And Ricky gets the players to gel well. We'll be right in it. Looking forward to the season to begin. How Can Hooper say Penrith have got a chance? lol. Thats funny stuff. Panthers have nothing. We have them in our first game. I believe we will belt them.

Funny how much of a different public perception has changed of the sharks since Ricky.

i actually think that the panthers will be a force to be reckoned with, they have matt elliott as their coach and he went ok with the raiders, i think we will see how good we really are after round 2, the panthers and titans are the two teams that will test us the most, in my opinion.

as for the picks up the top, those idiots saying the bulldogs will win is complete and utter bullcrap, they are losing their players not keeping them!

Gummy

Nicely remembered, probably the best comment on our friend Phils ability to pick a winner.

Anyway I do hope he is right. But suspect he is just pandering to the wife and kids.

Normally I think each year that this is our year. But after 10 on the trot last year, I am not convinced. That probably says a lot about my picking ability and means we will win this year.

Now I am confused. is Phil a genius or an idiot.

Hey well we did look a good thing till midway through the season, so I think that he is being wise in picking us, we definately have a great chance.
