Scoring tries consistently there too. Love his running style and hits holes like lewy

Has definitely learned a thing or 2 off Lewy.

His ability at right centre has to come into consideration next year with Dugan and Holmes. If Capes jags centre its Dugan FB and Val wing.

How did your 300 beers go mate?

no chance dugan plays fb for us, he flat out cant create and we require that

dugan has 1 try assist in 18 months, ppl crying about val would put dugan on the cross quickly

Yes I must agree with you Snowman.

Val at FB and Dugan at centre. Dugan only goes to fullback if Val doesn't play.

Wish it was as as simply as Dugan at fullback while we are defending Val fullback in attack.
I'm interested and somewhat excited on how flanno will get this sorted. Liked how last couple off season and pre seasons flanno has people playing for their preferred positions rather than just going through the motions of years past.

Yep. I can only see Capwell playing another year off the bench, effectively replacing Beale and to come on when Dugan is ****ting the bed. Hard running outside back with the added bonus of dropping into the forwards where need be. Then cement a run on spot once Lewis retires.

A major problem with our attack this year is because Val is not on the wing. He scored what 19 tries last year? how many have we scored down beales side this year? Val is a good fullback but he's an amazing winger. His best position is on the wing

A lot of that is probably down to Barba missing as well. Barba coming into the line would create confusion for the defence.

Yeah true. Also look at Val in origin 4 tries in two games. And for Australia scoring in their last game. He's a superstar just on the wing lol

I wouldn't go as far as to say he's no chance of playing FB for us, but I pretty much agree.

From memory most of those tries were off something Barba did, without him or someone like him at FB those opportunities for Val to score don't happen as much and he's catching a cold out there getting paid a motza. I agree he's a special talent on the wing but has a much higher ceiling as a FB. Too good to be a career winger, need to turn him into the speedy, ballplaying FB we lack and he can set up some other talented kid on the wing who can finish.

Thought Clydsdale did a decent enough job. Hasn't played a great deal of first grade and considering he's only new to the club I thought he held his own

I am in no way comparing us to melbourne but maybe we are becoming a more professional ran club where we can get these less known players to do a job just like Bellamy does for the storm.

I was thinking the same yesterday that we seem to be able to get these average players into our team and have them do a decent job for us from the get go without looking out of place or a stranger.
Sure some of this might be a new found culture or expectation to perform as someone else mentioned but I think it also reflects well on the coaching staff and structures they have in place as well.

Then again you can have some long term regular's train with the squad all year and still put in some shockers so goes both ways I guess haha but compared to past seasons and many other clubs I think we are doing it well.

Missed the game (magic weather here in Brizzy so North Straddie was beckoning). About what time of the game was this, so I can check it out? A bit of info below ...

Also wtf is the go with rts catching the ball while standing out off the field of play before it hit the ground. The ball isn't deemed out till it hits the ground I thought. 1, how didn't they know the rules and 2 why wasn't it overturned

Should have been our feed

I dont remember this moment but there was the 1 where their winger tried it and caught it before his foot got to ground. Ourr feed.

Thats the rule though. Like a kick off. If the player is in touch and catches/touches the ball its deemed out off the kicker or whatever.

I thought you still had to have one foot in the field and one out for that to take affect? That's the only scenarios I've seen that rule work. Peachey was a master of it. Looked like RTS was completely out of the field when he took the catch. Can anyone clarify?
Not as far as i know. Like when the ball rolls dead. If a player is standing dead and gets the ball before it hits the ground its deemed the ball is dead off the kicker. No rule about 1 foot either side
This is correct. You also only need to touch it - you don't need to catch it. One foot is enough (or any body part - technically you could put your hand on the dead ball and kick the ball for teh same result).

Saw this on the replay his morning. Chad was blowing up. They showed a brief replay but no comments from the commentators.

Not having seen it yet I can't comment on the call, but the rule is that if it is touched on the full it is deemed out by the kicker, but if it touched is on the bounce it is out by the receiver.
