only problem with this early talk about off contract players is that there own clubs will want 2 retain all the big stars and are possibly just allowing them to look otherwheres to see how much they are worth

Hey Mega, I actualy cut and pasted that from the daily telegraph site, so that was a typo from there.

I would be circling a centre, front rower and back rower.

Cooper, Taylor, Toupu for mine.

Another person coming of contract at the end of next year that I might consider.... Tim Sheens, if Ricky starts looking towards another club I would be happy with Timmy as a replacement.

id have a shot at Todd Carney, Him at 7 and Green at 6 would be sick.....get rid of noddy to free up space and have a big shot at Carney. They could be the next Aussie halves (after Thurston n Locky finish) in my opinion

Ricky Stuart is fairly close to re-signing, my mail is he is meeting with the Mayor in regards to a new Centre of Excellence for our club, it is supposed to be state of the art and high tech, he wouldn't be doing that if he wasn't looking to the future, plus my source tells me other things he is organising for next year and beyond indicates he is in it for the long haul. But I will be a relieved man when I know he is re-signed, if he doesn't I will be filthy, best thing to happen to us in years, and his plans support that.

Plus all these palyers signing for long contracts, Gallen, Bird, Douglas, wouldn't be if he wasn't going to be coach.

no rooney has been playing first grade, he hasn't played for half the season because he got injured. koopu is a great backrower.

Epalahame Lauaki...he has some skills but still lacks consistency at this early stage of his career. His big brother Sione is about 5cm taller, 10kg heavier and plays rugby union, has made a few appearances for the All Blacks I believe.

rooney when fit is still crap...way past his best... id take covell, brown, inu, falou and hayne over him

that is a bit obvious i'm not saying he is better than these guys, but he is a better option moneywise, and is a good defender.

To me Rooney seems happy doing the bare minimum to stay in first grade. He's a much better player than he's shown in the past 3-4 years.

Koopu is a capable back rower and fill in centre, but I wouldn't chase him for the Sharks. In saying that I'm sure he wouldn't be a disappointment in the blue, black and white so if we happened to get him I wouldn't mind - don't see it happening though.

Luiaki is a gun impact prop. Excellent of the bench, especially when Price is leading by example. When Luiaki comes on he rolls up the sleeves and dominates the middle third of the field, which allows Price to reduce his work load and run a bit wider, hence Price averaging over 300m per game in 2007. Luiaki is far from a starter yet though.

imagine if we signed rooney, i think he would try, i agree he hasn't dne much for penrith, but that is because his spot is safe, he'll go great here, fighting for a spot.
