I only live 5 min from old Waverley ground, that's the stupid thing for as well as Melb has infrastructure there were no train to and from the ground just buses..

It was a great ground before they tore down part of the stands and put in apartments. Made an arseload of money though

Bun fight going on now, developer promised all land owners the powerlines would be put under ground within I think 10 years Been 10 years and now they relize how much it's going to cost em, trying to back out from the committment.

Haha really? I guess once they pay you there is no more desire to satisfy them

Victoria Park in Collingwood/Abbotsford is still a nice ground. Has its own train station and everything.

Pity they auctioned everything off. My train used to go by there and every week it was less and less

It would probably be all turned into apartments by now if the heritage council hadn't put its foot down.

When I lived in Melbourne, the suburban grounds were starting to be dismantled.

If you have the MCG as your home ground, you're doing great. If you get Ethihad, you're being ripped off.

AFL jumped the gun a bit, now they're talking about Eddie McGuire Stadium, uprading Punt Road, or turning Carltons spiritual home into a boutique stadium.

They should have kept Waverly us a fully functioning stadium.

Watch the NRL chase their bums in 2020 if the AFL go down this path.

There is an online petition with almost 1800 sigs on it already.

For those who are interested in it.

https://www.change.org/p/john-grant...ay-at-their-home-ground-after-all-they-own-it

As much as I like the sentiment and believe you should always do something I can't see a petition holding much sway with the decision makers.

I'm not a shire local so I'm not as anti this idea as others provided it's only a few games and we get paid well for it. Perhaps do a double header. So us and Manly play back to back. That'll bring good crowds. And if it's on prime time the sponsors will be happy.

it's way of fans making their point, as a fan it makes me feel good that I've had my say
Hopefully they take notice.

As a season ticket holder, I have paid for 12 home games at Southern Cross Stadium
If they shift games am I going to get a refund on those game ? or free tickets to the bigger ground (with transport and parking)

There would be a few questions from members etc that would have to be answered if they go through with it.

Reading a statement from LG sounds like he'll fight it for this year anyway.

Hoping the right decision is made

Maybe they'll offer two types of memberships - one including the "away" games and one not. Each one's price being adjusted to reflect the number of games and potential inconvenience it might offer.

I just think if u start taking clubs away from a home ground you start to ruin that clubs brand or identity.

I grew up going to games at caltex, shark park, toyota, (blank) stadium, remondis. I took my kids to games there over the last 3 years and since splitting my ex missus is asking what games would be good to take the kids too. They enjoy the family hill, but r more aware of the game now too. Its a huge effort to get to cronulla to watch a game. But i do it. If we play out of anz or sfs i will definitely be less inclined to go.

id support 1 or 2 games being taken away for big money. But i wont attend that game. I think that needs to end as a failed project

Thats the main issue for the club, how many members would not renewal if this happened.

For me it's a family outing, kids get to run around, have fun on the family hill etc etc.
Going to an empty stadium and being forced to sit on a plastic chair and not being able to anything doesn't and wouldn't appeal to me and my family.

so strange to me, as the NRl doesn't own them grounds, they just rent them so why would agree to be being used to get government funding.

The stadiums look alright to me.
