Experienced second rower Lance Thompson is the latest Sharks casualty, with a troublesome knee problem set to see him miss this week’s game against Manly.

Thompson battled the knee injury throughout last week and after missing the final training session on Friday showed plenty of courage to take his place in the side which was eventually beaten by the Roosters. His withdrawal is a further blow to the Sharks who have been forced to name an inexperienced line up to take on the Sea Eagles. The loss of Thompson comes on the back of the thumb injury to Greg Bird, while the Sharks other starting back rower, Paul Gallen, will miss the clash due to a one-game suspension
