I'd bet 2010's right nut, he would have given up other opportunities to leave.
Loyal and he loves his Sharks. WILL always be one of the first named in Cronulla's best ever team over the ages.
A bit of respect is all I'm asking. Sounds like guys don't feel he deserves it.

He was close to going to Manly years ago. Mate of mine is a Manly fanatic, he's always been over the moon Gal didn't go there.

Nope he doesn't get my respect. Other people can respect him as much as they like and think of me as they will, we all have different views of the world.

I very much respect Gal as a player; He's pretty damn phenomenal. That said, for a multiple of reasons (Bad direction from dummy halves, lack of organisation, lack of set-plays, trying too hard to be involved, arrogance?) he touches the ball way too often in attacking zones, to the detriment of the side. He plays like a prop; He needs to respect his own play-style, stick to being a prop, and respect his position in the team as a prop (Which means stop thinking he is a ****ing halfback).

That said, it's been the same for years. I will be surprised if he doesn't choose to go back to playing Lock. He shouldn't have a choice, it should be the coaches, but our's appear to have pea-sized balls when speaking to big-Gal.

"I've never really realised it throughout my career, I've always been driven and always done my extras and always done the little things to try and succeed, but I've really seen what a coach does a team (this year)," he told the crew.

"There's guys in every team that aren't as driven and they need a little poke along, 'come on mate, do this, do that, you need to do this to improve yourself'.

Another example of why I don't like Gallen - as the captain why are you not being the bloke to push the players?? But yeah have a whinge in the media give them some more bad press to run with.

Anything to suit your agenda then, can't see what's wrong with that.

Nothing wrong with the Captain not pushing players?
The captain is also a player mate. He cant do everything. Not to mention that Gal has had heaps on his plate with ASADA also.
The coach is the most critical staff member of the whole club. Without a good one even great teams fall apart.
Geez some of you guys here have lost the plot this arvo.

In your head, rent free
disagree, having captained high level teams, and being captained by some fantastic players, it is the captains responsibility to push the players who are falling behind at training, in the gym and at recovery

if gallen has had a lot on his plate with asada, origin ect, then he should have handed the reigns over, or the club should have made the call and made wade captain during the origin period

just sounds like gal wanted to get his voice heard on the radio again

Yep I'm sure Gallen never pushes those around him to do more and be better. Quite as a mouse at training and on game day, and just to make sure he's completely fulfilling your delusion he makes everyone look the other way when he trains in case his actions inspire those around him.

I think the questionable part is the airing of these opinions. I wouldn't feel great about it if I were his team mate... Surely some of them would be rubbed the wrong way. Sort it out at training.

I must have interpreted that differently, I didn't read it as he doesn't tell the players to have more of a go. Just seemed like a fairly general statement saying some players are more motivated than others

I know you're 60+ posts in now, but just in case no one already said it - welcome to the forums mate. The form guide - Snowman is the grouch, Chad's the likable one, and most everyone is good for a laugh.

Enjoy :)
