I'm really glad we got the two points today, with the way the ladder is, we need as many wins on the board as we can before the wilderness of rep football. 7-2 start yeah? Great effort.

[h=1]Wayne Bennett criticises early naming of Kangaroos Test team after Broncos beaten by Sharks[/h]
WAYNE Bennett has criticised Mal Meninga and John Grant for naming the Australian team a week early, saying it mentally drained his Broncos players ahead of their loss to Cronulla.
The Kangaroos broke from tradition to name their side last Tuesday, when they usually wait until that round’s games are completed before announcing the side.
While Bennett said the Sharks were the better team on the day, his felt his players “didn’t turn up” in the first half in part because they were thinking of Friday’s Test.

Brisbane had five players named in the Kangaroos side while four were on Sunday night named in the New Zealand team coached by Broncos assistant Stephen Kearney.

“I’m not making excuses but I was pretty disappointed when they named the team early this week,” Bennett said.

“We haven’t done that before and it is just not good.
“Especially guys like Josh McGuire who has never played for Australia before.
“It only takes three or four guys to be off in this competition and you are under pressure.

“That’s not the reason we lost but it is part of the fact.

“I kept the Australian and Kiwi players back yesterday and I told them because I knew what was going on with them.
“It is not good policy. They would rather find out tonight.”

Bennett of course went after the Australian job but lost out to Meninga and is now coach of England.

As he says in the article he isn't using it as an excuse, even so, I still had a small laugh at it. Figured I would post some of it anyway. Just seems like typical Bennett crap.

Very pleased to see Beale back on board.

I mentioned before how good Beale is for Val as right centre but it turns out Beale is also good for Feki on the left side too.

Loved his unselfish flick pass to Feki when he saw he was getting pulled back from the try line.

When Feki came off Leutele should have gone to wing not centre though - our defence leaked horribly after that dumb substitution.

Don't stuff us up anymore Flanno - Beale's place is in the centres.

I was pinching myself at half time though I did think back to our 2014 comeback. I honestly didn't know how to feel at full time, singing the song was more out of relief than victory. The whole second half I felt on edge.

Anyway, always good to beat the Broncos. We need a second hand now to count this winning streak!

Haven't seen a massacre in the Shire like the one in the first half since 1776. Wow. Let's just forget about the second half. They're a strong opponent, we did well to get the two points. Spewing I couldn't get there.

Strange feeling leaving the ground today. Despite the win I felt really flat, obviously due to our second half effort. Didn't feel like singing the song either which is not bloody right at all.

As has been said on here first half was awesome. As good as the 26-0 scoreline against the Roosters a few years ago. Our passing was crisp, our defence sound, second phase play from offloads just out of this world. Our intensity was very high, we had the Broncs back pedalling and they were shell shocked.

And then we had half time.

Now I bet every Sharks fan in that ground had the thoughts of coming out in the second half and keep our feet on their throats. The only guys in Black, White and Blue that didn't were the 17 players on the field. I don't know what they were thinking but the intensity dropped so much you'd be forgiven for thinking the Broncos upped the ante. But I don't think they played amazingly better in the second half, we just dropped off and allowed them back into the game.

It was a relief that we won rather than the pure joy we should have felt. Ennis was just brilliant today. God knows what we'll do if he doesn't play. I thought Chad and Maloney are looking better each week as well. Even though he was gassed in the second half, Gal was strong. I hope he keeps playing like that all year.

6 wins in a row is a great result and in two weeks against the Knights we should get our 7th. But anyone thinking we should towel them up needs to look at our second half today again to realise there is every possibility of them making things very tough for us.

I think a better start than most expected. Stoked to be on 14 points already and when we start playing for 80 mins we'll be nearly unbeatable.

Leutele can't play centre, so I reckon he knows how to play wing even less!
