No Moylan, Xerri possibly debuting, eels looking pretty hot this year... should be a good game. Ferguson is the only thing I’m worried about. If we can shut him down all night, we’ll be in a good position to win it. No errors please :hoping

Parra have been very physical this year , quite impressive.

We will have to meet that , and then move them around a bit.

And yes to stopping Fergo.

I am worried about this one - if we complete as poorly as we did for 50mins last week they will race ahead and our Defence won’t be able to save us. No Moylan or Gal will hurt.

Danger game but but if we hold the ball we will win but it’s a big IF

JMo said in the presser that the heat and humidity in Townsville really took it out of them and that they would have to concentrate on getting their energy reserves back up for this game.

Yeah would have been tough conditions for sure, may as well have a relatively light week.

Parra have beaten Penrith and Dogs. Roosters weren't at best and accounted for them. By rights we should beat this lot.

I actually don't think we'll win this one.

After a big trip to Townsville, humid conditions, a trip back, Gal and Moylan gone (3 months :p), we'll definitely struggle.

Parra aren't great but if they get a good roll on through Ferguson and their pack, they'll be hard to beat.

So what options are we looking at to replace Moylan and Gal and what are the strengths?

I think given it's early season, we'd be best going with an option that invests in our depth. Xerri seems an obvious choice to come in for overall depth investment, however that presumes Dugun to the back and if he gets injured too we'll be scrambling for an option.

So maybe just getting our best fullback in waiting in is the best move?

As for Gal, I would think whatever gets Uele in is the best move. Nikora is going great and Graham will come back later in the year, meaning we already have an extra edge forward getting good game time. Middle forward wise it would be good to have an extra guy get some game time early in the season.

Interesting you made this comment MB but didn't enlighten us as to who our best fullback in waiting is. :)

I don't think there is anyone obvious we can put in there - everyone is saying Kennedy and while there are some great things about him, he still worries me about size and defence.

He'll probably get named in the 21 man squad though I reckon.

Personally Xerri to centre & Dugan to fullback.

Bukuya to start at lock with Williams picking up extra minutes. Uele to come onto the bench.

I haven't seen much of the fringe players though so I'm not strongly opinionated on the matter.

That's because I don't know! But if Kennedy is up to it, then I guess him. If Moylan is only out for 2-3 weeks I think bringing Xerri in is obvious. If Moylan is out longer and / or has the risk of not being 100% all season, we really need to create options early IMO.

That sounds very sensible although potentially a little conservative?

I like the idea of Bukuya starting, because I want him to get more involved and that may be a way to make it happen.

That's what I thought mate but I suspect you're not the only one! :)

im torn on the dugan move - he is a class centre and is only getting better

however, his kick returns are an asset. his ball playing is a bit cracp so what do you do?

for mine, you gotta bring xerri in. you just have to.

williams also has to start at lock, uele on the bench

Bukuya will be more involved either way you would have to think. I'm not fussed at all if Williams was to start I just think Bukuya to take on the early pressure makes a little more sense at this stage. If Williams starts you get Bukuya's versatility from the bench too which is handy.

Yep definitely Duges to the back and Xerri in the centres.

Duges looks a bit bigger this year so hopefully his body holds up to playing fullback. It's only for three months.

Yep. Tough game coming up, Parra are certainly a better team then last year. We simply can’t afford another first half like last week. No Moylan makes it difficult but it’s exciting to see what either Xerri or Kennedy do. Would be great to see one of them finally get a chance. Us by 4.
