As Maloney said recently, we need to built consistancy, to show we can do it week in week out. l thought last nights game saw parts of the puzzle come together. Still a long way to go but we are definately on the way. Always good to get a win over Melbourne.

Never seen Cronk or cam smith play a game and have so little positive influence to their team, with exception of that grand final flogging manly gave them (minus suspended smith).
Maybe Father Time is catching up on them.
The big one for me was Jesse Bromwich, he played 70 minutes out there yet I barely saw him until the last 10 when he started pushing offloads that weren't on.

Yeah, I think we destroyed them in the middle more than it looked. Their big fellas did nothing.

Really great game last night. People will say we grinded it our or won 'ugly' but I think the tries we scored, the repeat sets we forced and the tries we should have scored (bar some terrible hands from Val) showed that we really hit a gear last night. Storm were frazzled by our defence and the fact that Val dropped the ball with the line clear ahead of him twice shows that our right side attack is clicking-Birdy was amazing last night and when Val is on they will be near unstoppable. Bird is so strong he will always draw that winger in and he has the skill to get the ball away to Val.

Feki is still the weak link in our backline unfortunately. Don't know how Gagan is going but a big string winger would be perfect.

Great win by the boys, really happy with our composure and strength in defence.

We kept the storm out for 60min, that is a monumental effort.. That same resilience against the Tigers with some attacking polish and I will be very happy.

I've had some time now to think about the game last night and I'm very pleased with the win.
There are some other aspects I'm pleased about as well.

(1) The return to form of Ben Barba. Gee that try he scored was scintillating.
(2) Our defence. From the first set we showed Melbourne we weren't going to be intimidated.
(3) We created opportunities. Sure we bombed a few tries - Val didn't have the best night - but the attack seems to be coming together a bit better. Some of the passes from Townsend and Maloney have been great, getting the ball out wider and sooner.
(4) Chad is really impressing me. Maloney's not quite there but Chad is doing the business. He looks every inch a footballer at the moment.

If you weren't there and didn't hear about the Under 20s game, you'll be amazed.
When I got there the Storm led 22-6 and scored again to make it 28-6 before half time so instead of taking my seat and watching that debacle, I decided to get some exercise and did a few laps of the ground.
By the time I got back to my seat the Sharks had fought back to only being down by 10 at 40-30 and I turned to Littleshark and said, "Surely we can't win this." But win it they did - 48-40. Ridiculous.
But great to get two wins against the Storm!

Pleasing win. Coulda/shoulda been by 12-18 more yet keeping Storm to 6 is huge and not as though they bombed serveral tries. Tigers didn't score a point yesterday in a low scoring game so expect a similar game this weekend

I've found one of the best facets of our game was last was spreading the ball and doin it regularly, getting the ball in bird and vals hands a lot more as well as barba made us look so much more threatening.

It opens up so many more options with the defensive line having to contain Maloney, Chad, bird, Val and keeping an eye on Ennis at dummy half just gives us so much more to work with and shifting the ball to either side of the field we have scorin options.

Wait until about 10 weeks and these guys are combining regularly and sharper.

Agree,
val had a shocker early but jeez we made room nearly every time we went to him, ball got out there so much quicker than in the past, looked fluid (that's not a word used previously when describing our attack)

That defence last night was monumental! That is what will win us games this year! I could tell by the first set we weren't going to be messed around with. Our niggling all night I could see got the Storm so frustrated & made them do stupid things at times. Barba played out of his skin all night, the tackle he did to keep their player held up, cant remember who it was bloody brilliant!

Everyone is allowed to have a shocker once in a while, if Holmes caught those balls we could have got up by over 20! Taga meanwhile had a great impact, he is a very good impact player off the bench. Maybe Flanno instead of naming him to start every week then Prior off the bench, name it the other way around cause that's whats happened every week this year haha. Fifita was a big handful in defence last night aswell. One other thing I liked from our performance was our intention of getting it out wide rather early, it made good metres in our sets. Once Bird & Holmes are going to get the right side combo out we will get a good amount of tries out there.

I can't remember the last time I watched a Cronulla side get the ball, through sweep plays to both edges in the space of two tackles before last night. Was absolutely astounded. Also seemed ennis really pulled back on the short ball to a front rower which is probably why we saw more chances on the edges.

I was smiling when Val busted through the middle and passed to Chad to race away and score. Imagine what would have happened last year...

Koroibete 1 week suspension. Thought it was worse than that IMO being so blatant.
