I had no issues with going for the 2 when 6-0 up. We had plenty of opportunites to extend our lead at 8-0 up.
They were rattled.

What is the famous Wayne Gretski (sp?) quote? You miss 100% of the shots you don't take.

We can't let sides off the hook like that.

I disagree. There was more rain to come so a lead of 8 was OK at that point. As I said, we had plenty of chances after that to put points on but failed. It wouldn't have made any difference to the result.

I think it was the right call to take the two.

We had ample other opportunities to score tries and we looked completely inept at spreading the ball or troubling the defence at all. If we took the tap it probably would have resulted in a set of hit-ups anyway...

LOL. I guess its just me. Taking the two in that situation is a red flag to the opposition that we don't think we can score when they are on the ropes. It must give the opposition a lot of confidence.

However, I'll let it alone. :)

I only saw the second half (via a crap stream) but I thought it was our best performance of the year. The energy, linespeed and aggression in defence was excellent and forced errors. Barba returned the ball really well and we got out of our end easily. In attack, they played with more width while still changing the angles and bringing blokes back underneath like a good wet weather footy dictates. Downsides were that Maloney and Holmes didnt get enough ball - the left edge attack still hasn't quite gelled in particular - and they dropped some ball as they chased the game. On the whole though I thought the shape was good and they attacked with more speed than we typically see.

Manly defended well and were just straight up lucky with how the ball bounced for the Stewart and TT tries. We got the ball on/over the line on at least four occasions but didn't get the bounce or couldn't get it down. Turn a couple of those around and we win comfortably.

****ty loss IMO but not a bad performance. Hopefully the team is stinging from it and they can just get the details right.

It must have been a crappy stream as I didn't see a lot to rave about on the screen I was watching.

midway through the second half they mentioned we had 41

Yeah I heard that too. Wouldn't mind knowing final figures but can't find it.

Probably clouded by only seeing the second half. Sounds like the first half resembled the usual head-bashing against a wall mode of attack.

It was ugly mate, bit like our round 26 clash last year. Should have been up by 20 at the break.

Well, I'd be keeping a copy of that hit on VHS and I'd be using it to get a downgrade on pretty much everything else for the rest of the year.

head bashing is spot on! we continually run one out into a wall of defence, no-one running into holes. Holmes needs to get in & demand the ball. Did he touch it in the 1st half?? disappointing attack but still early, not the end of the world

You must have watched a different game to what nearly everyone else did (not me) because apparently Maloney is slow, old, useless, weak and added nothing to our attack. Go figure!
