I don't know if has been mentioned already but I'll give my reasons for why I think we lost that game last night.

At 22-12 at half time we prob only need 1 try in the 2nd half and we win. But instead we come up with 4 "negative" plays instead of just playing some footy. Anyone who watched the game will know of the 4 "negative" i'm suggesting but I'll list them anyway:

- The penalty goal (You gotta score tries to win NRL matches)
- The field goal (just suggests to opposition that you haven't got a try in ya)
- Paul Gallen staying down (the tackle looked bad live and I know we got a free interchange, but we need Paul Gallen on field as much as possible, especailly with the game in the balance)
- Chad Townsand staying down (he got up and was involved in the play soon after, so he was alright. So why stay down?)

The Roosters on the other hand were behind on the scoreboard and had no choice but to play a bit of footy, and got the result.

Yeah I really agree with the Gal call, he should have stayed on! It just encouraged the wanker Rooster forwards when he went off!

it was defs a dive but the refs probs would of missed it if he didn't go down. Taga and chads weren't dives though and that ******** brian smith said in the press conference they were.

I'm watching the game for the first time (I had some other things on last night) and I'm in the 59th minute- we're leading 24-18, and we've just got a penalty on the Roosters' line.

How the hell do we lose from here? We're all over them!

Its actually been a really good game of footy. Its lacked the precision of two top sides going at it, but boy, has it been willing. I rate the Roosters' bench of Tasi/Masoe/FPN as one of the biggest and most damaging combos in the comp, and the boys have held them really well. Also, the boys are running on to the damn ball this week! Snowden, Smith, Douglas, Aiton, Williams, Graham, Stapleton and Gallen have all been really good with their yardage and defensive work, and the patterns in attack have improved hugely on last week. Defense still solid-ish as it was against the Dogs- poor contact from Townsend on the first try, a blatant shephard on the second and a tired effort by Smith on the third.

So what happens in the last 20 minutes that means we don't win this?

70 Minutes 33 Seconds

Jared Waerea-Hargreaves gets sent off (as he should have been) the Sharks go on to win.

Go to http://www.nrl.com/gameAnalyser/tabId/10910/seasonID/7/roundID/203/matchId/1354/default.aspx and look at he incident.

That was the turning point. If it was an isolated incident you might excuse it and get on with the game.

However, in the light of the previous high shots against Townsend and Tagataese, it rattled the players. It's difficult to compete when you're put into a position where it seems that the referees have no intention of seeing a fair contest.

Disgraceful refereeing.

Coach joins Gallen claim of ref's double standards

Coach Joins Gallen Claim Of Ref's Double Standards

Cronulla are out of the race for the NRL finals, and don't feel any need to worry about upsetting referees between now and the end of the season, judging by the way captain Paul Gallen and coach Shane Flanagan were talking after Saturday night's loss to the Sydney Roosters. Gallen blew up about the high tackle made on him by Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, suggesting it should have been a send-off offence rather than the prop simply being placed on report. ''Where's the consistency in the game? I'd like to see, if I'd done that Hargreaves hit, if I'd have stayed on the field,'' Gallen said. Flanagan echoed those sentiments, saying: ''I'm pretty sure if it was Gal, he would've been sat on the sideline.''

Agreed Fitz,

It was pissweak refereeing from Lyons and that other moron.

I knew full well when Pritchard got off for his hit on Wade Graham that a precedent had been set.

It seems opposition players can poleaxe our players and the refs do sweet **** all about it.

JWG was one of the worse ones I have seen in a while. I still don't know why someone didn't have a go at Masoe for standing over Gallen and laughing. That pissed me off.

Yeah I missed it live but watched the last 20 odd mins on replay (I knew the score guess I wanted to see how we blew it) .. I knew nothing about the hit and when I saw it I couldn't believe the ref saying to JWH that he's giving him the benefit of the doubt .. what benefit? that he accidental was standing up straight with a swinging stiff arm into the head of a player also not falling? Refs are scared to send off anymore - people hated Harrigan as a ref but he stuck by his guns. I missed the other 2 shots so cant comment on them. Douglas was soft for the last try but the game was gone .. that's 2 tries of pure bull**** that's effectively won the game for the opposition - Mead's pickup v Titans and now the no look offload from Shaun 2Dads - and Gal still nearly held him up.

Don't forget the obvious obstruction.

To be honest, there's nights where it looks like the Sharks won't win no matter what. It doesn't matter if it's the refs against them, or sheer luck, or a dumb player. I really feel sorry for the players that play a perfect game and have that result. It's hard enough watching it as a fan.

I don't blame the coach or even most of the players. For that game I blame the refs and consider it a 'moral victory' for the Sharks, no matter how hollow that is.

That back line that ran out was from memory the same one we were trialling with, and I reckon it's probably our strongest/safest back line.

Stapo/Pomeroy/Best/Williams/Gardner

It sort of shows that there's some value in going with experience. I'd argue that Stapo and Williams are perhaps our only two players that are capable of being genuine wingers. Thoughts? Matt Wright tried hard all year and ran it back well with kick returns but he had some big issues playing wing as well.
