My boy played under 6s this year.

There was no real "tackle technique" that was coached at training.

I've taught my boy to tackle low, and he was the easily best defender in the team. The coach absolutely loves him for it.

There was definitely a lot of arm grabbing and jersey pulling from the other boys. I'm not sure if that's what was taught by the other boys' dads or older brothers or just from what they see on the telly - but a lot of them do it.

More boys seemed to go lower as the season went on - I think it was because of the success my boy was having.

It was a great season all round. I loved it and so did my boy. The only negative was the season is too short. Its a long time till the trials next year in February.

As for guys not sure if they want their kids playing. Its the greatest game of all. It cost only $100 but you got free tickets to any NRL game, so we were easily in front at the end of the year.

It wasn't that physical. Some teams definitely had some players that could tackle better then others, but besides a few tears here and there, no one got hurt.

i know i was in uproar about it, but i have since calmed down

can someone tell me what was illegal about smiths tackle? illegal, not just coz it looked bad

Nothing technically illegal just a dog act disguised as a tackle. The crusher and chicken wing wern't illegal once upon a time, most people just knew the possibility of injury outweighed slowing down the ruck.
