Round 1 is now just 12 days away so I thought I'd get the Round 1 chat started.

The old enemy the Dragons are up first - home game for them.

Really need to put them to the sword in this one, they are not going to be feeling too good after the Charity Shield but it is a local derby so they will get themselves up for it I'm sure.

I'm reasonably confident we can get the job done, Round 1 wins haven't come to us all that often so it'd be great to get a good start on the board.

Absolutely terrible timeslot for a local derby, the NRL have well and truly ****ed up here.

Round 1 win would be great .. obviously but to snag as many early on with no SJ will be a bonus.

Feeling more confident than previous Rd 1 games but feels like a decade since we won a Rd 1 game so not getting ahead of myself.

Was pretty happy with our A team Trial on Saturday, throw in Tolman and Rudolf and it's an even better looking defence.

Yeah the timeslot is stupid.

I'm never confident in round 1 for obvious reasons.

If we're serious though we can't drop games like these, especially with SJ out.

Yes sorry guys, for some reason I didn't put the time in the thread title.

It is 6.15pm on Sunday March 14. Ridiculous time.

Will be tough being last up etc. Anyway gives the 2/3 with light injuries, a better chance of taking the field i guess. Close Game, we need to avoid a shoot out, hold the damn ball. Sharks by 4 pts.

Thanks for the info, Chad.

Yep, also a tad nervous as we tend to get the round one wobbles pretty regularly. We should be able to get this done though.
One thing I am feeling more confident about is Mozza. Even through his injury riddled seasons he's been able to get through games as 5/8, and if he's on the park we won't lose all the points SJ helped create last season.

Tolman will be awesome for us. A big contributor who will proabably fly under the radar because he won't have TA's to his name.

Biggest worry for mine is our edge defence. I still saw plenty of last years inneffective rushing up off the line trying to jam guys, so hopefully that doesn't translate into the season proper. If it does we're screwed.

DTs predicted team list is as per trial 1-17 except Rudolf into 13 replacing Billy and Tolman onto bench replacing Williams.
(so bench is Tracey, Tolman, Wilton, Fifita). Should find out how close they are later today.

Could see Wilton miss out for Williams, think Williams fits a bench role better when we already have a utility on the bench.
Also wouldn't surprise me to see #13 shenanigans, like Rudolf named but Tolman/Williams starts.

Don't think so. You mean next Tuesday.

Guess so! I thought there was a week between trials and games but then a round 1 thread (I obviously didn't look at very closely appeared) and I just assumed I'd been wrong.
Works for me, I probably can watch the game live now.

I for one will be pretty disappointed if we don't win and win well .
It's a perfect opportunity gain some confidence to then give the Raiders a hard time at the same ground a week later .
We have a good early round draw and REALLY have to make the most of it .
Also, IF the players want Morris as their coach , it's a great opportunity and incentive to prove why he should get an extension .

With the first 5-6 rounds we have it is imperative to win this one. Don't care if its 6-4 with a million errors. Just get the win.

Yep..I think the trick will be we just need to score more points than them. That should do it.

not confident in our Round 1 performances, however hoping we snag a win
just hope we learn to create something out of nothing. if we rely too much on structure plays too much we won't get far.

yes, to win games without SJ will be a bonus TigerShark.

dragons near the end of he charity shield were not that bad, at one point they were looking good and competitive.
I smell a danger game. beware of the wounded dragon!

Can’t wait. Fully expect us to lose this, but its a ****ing long off-season and i don’t like cricket, so bring it!

Moylan looks healthy, brails looks ready to dominate, and i reckon ramiens going to have a big year. Kennedy looked solid in the trial, i want to see him go up a level this year and the spine to make it difficult to fit SJ in (probably dreaming)

Rnd 1 I want to see tolman, woods and rudolph start - with fifs, uele and williams rotation.

Talakai and hunt need to come into the team ASAP, not sold on nikora at all based on preseason games, which is a shame because his first few debut games were insanely good and that line he runs is good for a try. A few here reckon he can’t play off the bench, but i disagree, i think he can bring linebreaks against tiring forwards and has some starch in defence.

Must admit, nothing I have seen of Wilton last year has excited me too much. Then again, I guess he has only played a couple of NRL games, so I should cut him a break. I haven’t seen any of the trial games this year. How does he seem to be going? Defence? Attack? Is he hitting the line hard etc.

Plays a lot like Nikora DID before Nikora went backwards .
Energetic , runs good lines etc
