Home Venues Explained

Week One: Qualifying Finals & Elimination Finals

The highest qualifying teams after 26 Rounds will host each match at their normal home venue, with exception to any Sydney based NRL club which will play their 'home game' at either the SFS or ANZ Stadium.

* Home venues subject to NRL approval as suitable to host a Final

Week Two: Semi Finals

The highest qualifying teams (after re-ranking following week 1 results) in each match (winners 3 & 4) will host in their home city.

The following home City venues may qualify to host a Final in Week 2:

New South Wales / ACT:
Sydney: Sydney Football Stadium, ANZ Stadium
Canberra: Canberra Stadium
Newcastle: Energy Australia Stadium

Queensland:
Brisbane: Suncorp Stadium
Gold Coast: Skilled Park
Townsville: Dairy Farmers Stadium

Victoria:
Melbourne: Etihad Stadium, MCG

New Zealand:
Auckland: Mt Smart Stadium

* A decision on which days both Finals will be played will be made following the completion of Week 1

Week Three: Preliminary Finals

The highest qualifying teams (after re-ranking following week 1 results) in each match (winners 1 & 2) will host in their home Region.

The following Regions and venues may qualify to host a Final in Week 3:

New South Wales/ACT:
All Teams: Sydney Football Stadium, ANZ Stadium

Queensland:
South East Queensland Region: Suncorp Stadium
North Queensland Region: Dairy Farmers Stadium

Victoria:
Melbourne: Etihad Stadium, MCG

New Zealand:
Auckland: Mt Smart Stadium

* A decision on which days both Finals will be played will be made following the completion of Week 2

I think that sydney teams rule is a joke. Its an injustice to the deserving home ground team, and their fans.

A week 1 semi at shark park against an out of town team would be great! But now we'll play at SFS or something with a stadium half filled...

Stupid idea that Sydney teams can't play at their own home ground even if they are playing an out of Sydney team. It also looks like the top 2 teams can meet before the Grand Final which I believe couldn't happen under the old system.

This is actually incorrect. This looks like a copy & paste from the McIntyre system.

Teams 5-8 never get a home semi in the new system and there is no "re-ranking". Week 2 home teams are actually the losers from team 1-4

I think we will finish 5-6, regardless even if its 7 or 8 after we beat the Storm, then Cowboys & win all the way up to & the GF it will be 7 on the trot for us by that stage!

this sux cause as it stands right now we have the tigers and they use anz as a home field we don't so in this case the lowest rank team gets the home field advantage .

For all the emphasis placed on finishing in the top 4, you can still only lose once in the finals series, and it must be in week 1.

If you're going well enough, there's really no reason why you can't go all the way from the bottom 4.

Well if in the bottom 4 you are Versing ****tier teams. I'd rather verse the broncos/tigers then the dogs or manly week 1
