Couple **** kicks but I see what he was attempting & approve given the conditions. He made some defensive decisions with great intent and a decisive confidence. And confidence with him is absolutely the key. He is a bit like Munster in that neither he or anyone else really knows what is going to do, like that kick on the volley which by the way absolutely should have been at the very least a penalty for Kennedy being pushed off the chase. But the ref had a worse game than the rookie who got ironed out by the Big Dog.

The way his Sharks career is panning out is very similar to Toops.

Both signed 4 year deals, and half way through were no chance of being re-signed.

Both end up getting 3 more years after the original deal, and earn the respect of fans along the way.

From DT

Moylan, 31, has agreed to terms on the two-year contract that will provide the 161-gamer with the opportunity to reach a memorable 200-game milestone.
Wasn’t wanting this before the season started but I have to eat humble pie now and admit Moyza has been very good.
Really showing us what he is capable of.

You really think it's going to change at his age?

He is fit, not that old and is surrounded by coaches and support staff

While I personally don't think his kicking will get heaps better some of that is because his responsibility for kicking during a game is relatively low so it isn't much of a focus for him or the coaches apparently but if they wanted to improve it they probably could.

He use to be able to put up those great torpedo bombs back in 2018 but he is out of practice these days in a game setting anyways

He has still put in some handy kicks this year for us

Reckon he doesn’t like Flanju 😂

Toops also went through a positional change from second row to middle/bench forward which worked wonders for him. Perhaps not as drastic as Mozza's shift from FB to 5/8 but these things for sure can prolong a career and unlock their best

He's not that old? He's 31 mate, what do you consider to be old in RL terms?

I'm happy with the way he's playing this year but anyone thinking his kicking is going to change at this stage of his career is living in la la land.

Still annoying to hear "he's taken full responsibility for having a lean few years". You'd think $900k/year would be motivation to keep fit.

Agree but it makes you wonder what our coaching staff had done to try to improve his mindset / motivation etc.

Yes players should self motivate but it's human nature that sometimes you have a dip in motivation or eagerness to go that bit extra. That's why you have coaches and trainers to bring the best out of you.

I think he is playing well, but I hope we didn't break the bank.

He's had some good luck this year with injuries, but I think with the rough years that he did have, he owed us a couple of modest one year deals. If he breaks down again and misses a large portion of a season I won't be overly surprised. But hey... fingers crossed.

the staff performed a miracle and played him at 6 instead of 1, where he doesnt have to make long , impactful runs and he can instead, keep his legs fresh

mind blowing stuff

LOL exactly. Not to mention it is much easier to keep Hammies strong when it has been a longer period of time since an injury with less high speed running which full backs do a lot of. I do hear that Moylan is preparing better for training (This means doing better with his rehab exercises and warm ups, cool downs and general maintenance. Finucane is a Master at this and why he is so good for our squad). Younger players can be more lazy in this area and then realise they can't be lazy in it as they approach their 30's

So once you hit 31 in Rugby League there is no chance of improving any aspects of your body or playing ability ?

It's kicking a footy - not getting the Tigers to a Grand Final

IMO its not a focus for him or the coaches so they don't put that much into it, he's more of a relief/backup kicker than someone like Maloney that shared a stack of the duties with Chad

You said he's not that old, I was just replying to that comment. He is old in footy terms.

It's obvious he's not really a natural kicker. I'll say it again, it's not changing at this stage of his career.

heard from a pretty reliable source that moylans deal is 375k per year and is heavily dependant on games played, much like this year

the thinking is that the market for halves available right now is not at an all time high and gives us flexibility to develop trindall/dykes, or have a red hot crack at someone in a years time

dont mind the deal, the length, or the thinking, moylan has looked good the last month, hitting his straps at the right time of the season

being off contract is all the motivation you need, I would be really impressed if this was a non contract year

How do they structure the contract around games played? Is it in the 1st year to trigger the 2nd year if he's on the park enough times?
